First Show On Friday

So as the title implies, my band had our first show on Friday, opening up for another local band Dear Vanity (http://www.myspace.com/dearvanityca), and it went amazingly well. My band, The Volition, has been playing together for a couple of months now, and we were approached by these guys about a month and a half ago about playing a show with them in late January. We had two songs done at the time, both of which were shaky at best, but we know the guys in Dear Vanity, so they gave us the chance to open for them.

We were all super excited for it. We were supposed to have a 5 song set ready to go, and it came down to us finishing our last song the week before the show. Thankfully though, everything was tight.

Everything went great at the show aside from some minor screw-ups and the lighting almost not working. The crowd loved us, too. Now, pics!

u guys need some recordings on your myspace! get those up asap!
first shows are always a scary thing. u have any live videos from the show? if not u should consider getting somone (just have somone in the stands video it)..its always a great ting to post on youtube to gain even a bigger audience.

A friend of mine got video of the entire concert, we'll be editing that and putting it up on our myspace soon. And yeah, we have the studio at school booked for the first few days of the semester, so hopefully by the end of next week we'll have one song up.

First show is always fun. As Left shoe said, Spend more time looking at the crowd an not your bass. It gets them more into it.

Yeah, I tried for most of the show. I know how much it sucks watching bands that don't move around or engage the audience. Although stage presence is something I need to work on, it was only our first show, so nerves were kind of high. Thanks though.

It's a Spector 5 string.

Ben has it right, it's a Spector Legend 5.

And Rawb, the shirt was kind of a joke. You can't really tell, but it was a t-shirt the band we opened for was selling, and he cut the sleeves off. He was going to wear one of the sleeves as a headband, but we talked him out of it :p

And in his defense, he didn't think the shirt would be so.. bright.

My band im playing in now is playing a show at the end of march with a bunch of Punk Bands...and were Ambient/Prog-Rock I wonder how it will turn out? :eek:
