I've been playing for a good six years or so, and my fourth bass, an Epiphone EB-0, has about had it. The E and A string tuning knobs have broken off, and the bass is falling apart in general. (That bass was not all that good, FYI) Anyone know anything about the ESP F-104? From what I've read and seen about it, it seem real solid, especially for the price. Is there anything I need to know about it? I've been looking around, and this is the bass I'm really considering. Also, is there any other basses you might recommend? My budget is about $320. It'll be used to play in a screamo/hardcore band.

You've been playing for a while, you should save up and get yourself a nice bass.

Yeah, I know, but I'm jobless at the moment. I'm using what comes back from my tax refund to get something that'll hold me out for awhile. I'm searching for a job, and once I have one, I'm gonna save enough money to get my own place. Then I can save and get myself something nice, but that won't be for a little bit, and I really need to replace what I have now. Actually, once I have the money, I'll finish modding the bass I have in the works. But I'm sick of tuning my current bass with a damn screwdriver.

The LTD series really isn't bad at all. It's pretty much on par with all the average quality basses at that point. The electronics sound good, and don't really hum much, the quality of the hardware isn't half bad, and the fretwork is usually better than most basses in that price range. Really, the only bad thing that I can come up with, is that they're pretty hard to adjust. You don't have a lot of give with the setup.

Hard, but not impossible? I can get it where I want it and not mess with it anymore. For $300, I can deal with it, especially if it sounds fine.
