Neither one was amazing, but my vote goes to Ben. Sheephead's just didn't capture my attention.

What a sad league.

Ben: Beautiful melody starting out. As I've told you before, the reversed stuff does nothing for me. I really don't like that effect. Really neat distortion though. You know I love that.

Sheep: Really neat groove. I am a sucker for that style of playing. Was it a single track? Nice chords. Good chops too. Didn't really feel like it progressed as well as it could have. Clipping at one point. Plus, minus points for the giraffe. :p

I am going to have to give Sheep this one. I felt his was more interesting, and I liked how organic it sounded. Both entries were pretty good.

I didn't really lie the whole distorted part on Bens track. But sheepheads was really funky and he gets my vote.

Thanks guys, from the offset this looks to be a close one at 3-3! Should be interesting...

Akira : Yeah, you should know by now I only use one track for everything! It's far from my best work, but I figured I had nothing to lose as only Ben had entered in league 1 and a 2 entry circumstance neither gets relegated no matter how bad the entry! There's quite a few mistakes in the middle tapping section cos I improvised the notes and kept the same technique pattern - which was pretty complex in the first place! Slap, hammer on, Tap double stop, pull off, hammeron, etc...

I love single-track solo bass. It just sounds so much better to me than stuff with a million tracks.

ben i did not like the bass line on the first part, and the backwards effect got old pretty fast. this second part just sounds noisy i cant distinguish whats going on really. oh nose here comes that bass line again with the backwards effect, the guitar playing on top of it is very redeeming though (if thats not guitar, then the melody line).

digging on the stuff sheephead, your eq is a bit bass heavy around 1:30, really noticeable in the lower register. at 2:22 two hand tapping part, you do a parallel 4th movement with the top two notes, it might sound better if you change one of the notes, but thats up to you. slight flub at 3:45. NICE dt at 4:21. slight loss of beat at 4:48, nothing big. class ending as well.

my vote = sheephead

Yeah, that was the melody. I refuse to use guitar, kthnx. :p

Yeah, it wasn't my best effort. I'm cool with that.

It was a pretty pathetic league, though.

I take exception to that! nah, i know what you mean - it's not quite the same as beating coffee, havic, etc.

 No, I didn't mean that.

It's more the participation that I was scoffing at.

Noise? :p

I can accept 'hard to follow' but it was hardly noise, you nub. :p

By Ben's standards this piece was quite melodic. :p

Noise as in = tracks are muddling together. I liked your other work far more.

But even with my love for effect driven music, sheephead got my vote.

Man, this is closer than that time I had to choose between tits and ***...

Tits won, but it was marginal dammit. The question is: Who is the tit here?

Well, I'm certainly not feeling like an *** today.

Good match. Had me sweating bullets there, for sure. :)

Your song was cool, by the way. You ever listened to "Oceans" by John Butler? Reminds me a lot of that.
