Pretty simple, in this thread just list some songs with basslines that you play more for the emotional context, rather than the technical aspect of the song. I figured this might help define some terms we use as adjectives for basslines that can be pretty subjective; groove, funky, etc. come to mind.

I'll start it: Audioslave - Like a Stone.

Back when I first started playing, I would sit in front of the computer with my bass watching this music video and playing a long. The line is ridiculously simple, but I think there's a lot of power in every note and how it flows.

Hahaha lol well, I suppose Continuum by Jaco Pastorius but I know it's not really a bass line in the general use fo the word.

But still. Lovely piece of music.

Justin Chancellors line in 10,000 days I think are pretty emotional, especially after the climax part.

And oh, how awesome it was.

I was front-row centre for the Cardiff gig. Absolutely jaw-drapping, sonically and visually.

I'd like to second Lightning Bolt's Dead Cowboy. The part that Museic mentioned and also the section starting at 3:10. I've always likened the beginning part to building a huge slingshot, sitting in the sling, and having these huge machines struggle to wind it back, because it's so huge and powerful. It releases and you go flying through the air at an incredible speed and at 3:10 you slow down to the point where you just kinda floating through the air, the drums come in and you begin this beautiful free-fall....ahhhh Lightning Bolt is such a rush, always...I'm so pissed I didn't get tickets for their show in Brooklyn last sunday...

Also, I'd like to mention Death From Above 1979's My Love is Shared....yeah, the line's repeated for the whole song except the end, but it conveys SO much feeling and emotion, especially when combined with the drums and vocals...gets me excited every time

Try this old Sly & The Family Stone song "If You Want Me to Stay":p Groovy song.

Aye, pretty much anything Sly produced. It's ridiculous how much Larry Graham can groove off of one note.
