EDIT: I changed the files to .mp3 format so they are very easy to listen to! Thanks!

So I happened to be at the Sage with my laptop, and I had some spare time and I wanted to show off my new Alchemy 8" RAW Bell which is such a lovely cymbal..

But umm, yeah I recorded some grooves for you all. The quality is surprisingly good for just a laptop mic, and I didn't strategically place it or anything. Just had it to my left, which may be why the hats were picked up so well.

The rest of the kit is not mine however.. It belongs to the sage.

I was playing a Yamaha Birch Custom (I think?) with like a natural finish. Clear G2s on the toms, EMAD on the bass (not that it's picked up very well), and I *think* a coated ambassador on the snare.

The cymbals were:

Zildjian 13" A Custom Mastersound Hats
Zildjian 18" A Custom Crash
Zildjian 20" Avedis Ride
Alchemy 8" RAW Bell (mine, and I LOVE it!!)

So anyway, here are the grooves (all under a minute long):

Triplety groove that drummguy posted in the advanced section:

Mambo type groove (with silly fill at the end :p):

Some free grooving around the kit:

And finally, some stuff I have been practicing lately like double stroke ostinatos and playing other stuff over the top.

With my feet:

And with my hands:

The ostinato stuff could be tightened, but it's definately coming together.

Thanks for listening! :D

Come on.. 10 meg Wav's?! Compress to mp3 yo!

I picked the feet doubles.. but it wasn't what I thought it'd be. Good stuff though, sounds like you might be rushing a bit when you play the more complex figures over the pattern.
The simpler 16th note stuff either isn't lining up perfect with the notes on the feet all the time, you can hear some flams here and there

It's just so close to a samba you should work on those! Samba's are what got my right foot (or left) doubles really movin.

I noticed you sped up on the feet doubles too but otherwise that was some good stuff BB. I like the hand doubles the most.

Great playing, liked the first one. That bass sounds awful, but that snare sounds excellent with the snares off.

Yeah Extreme Interdependance is the one im going through. I'm not looking forward to the double ostinato between left hand and left foot though! :p

Oh and Jos, did you listen to the groove clip? I like to think that my time has improved loads.

Give up now.

Only kiddin you, good stuff! On the tripletey groove, what was the sticking/where is your raw bell on your kit?

I mounted the raw bell upside down on top of the 18" a custom crash. The groove is left hand lead. I'm right handed. There's a thread on this groove in the advanced section called "Cool Funk Beat" or something like that. :)

Oh and the sticking was all singles.

Ahh! Nice. The way the hats were accented a little I though there was some RLL or RRL going on.

*Goes and checks out thread*

Again, nice work BB!
