View Full Version : Sinister Minister

What a groovey song.
I've started learning it. Haven't run into any troubles yet...but that's because I've only learned the first few bars:p
Anyone here learned it? Got any tips/pointers/words of warning?
It's becoming clear that, no matter how much technique is packed into a song, Vic still manages to keep a solid groove going. I have a feeling that'll be the most challenging part of this learning process.

Yeah, the song itself is easy as hell.
The solo is a challenge though... I never learnt it because I'm lazy.
Richi
01-24-2007, 06:59 PM
The solo will be fun. Pretty much just sounds like double thumbing. A lot of double thumbing. May pose some problems since my double thumbing's quite...lacking, we'll say:)

It is one of the grooviest songs I've heard. That and Yingin' and Yangin'. Think Sinister takes second place though.

Probably my favorite song by them.

Yeah, the song itself is easy as hell.

Agreed, I could never figured out exactly how he does it.

i have his transcription of it, its very counter intuitive and unlike ny other slapped 6let ive seen him doing
peeted
01-25-2007, 08:34 AM
its a fun song to jam along too, id be intesrted in seeing a transcription because i cant quite work out the solo or the lil fill at the beggining (is that what everyone means by 6let?).

Recordings plz
the octave slapping and double popping thing up a minor scale at the start IS pretty easy
Richi
01-25-2007, 03:04 PM
The start of it maybe. It does get progressively harder though.
PaulSimonon
01-25-2007, 06:49 PM

Recordings plz
Seeing as I don't use other people's fills or solos, that would honestly be pointless... Take those out, and it's a pretty bare-bones song.
Everyone here knows I'm not a great player anyways, so I don't see a reason to call me out on something lame like this. Grow up.

AKA you're full of ****
Unless I hear a tight recording, it's not "easy as hell".
The first 45 seconds maybe aren't too hard I admit, but I'd like to hear you play the 16th note double-thumbing part. And no, that's not part of the solo.
i have his transcription of it, its very counter intuitive and unlike ny other slapped 6let ive seen him doing
What is the pattern exactly?

*shrugs* I'm full of **** then, get over it. I really don't care.
You can never leave anything alone can you? Do you seriously have to drag everything you find to be in "disagreement" with your little opinion out to prove to some teenagers on the internet that you're smart? Or what? I'm tired of you pulling this EVERY SINGLE TIME someone goes against you. Please, just stop.
Seriously, learn to let things go.

I'm a teenager too, actually. I'm 17.
I'm not trying to prove I'm smart at all, I don't know where you get that from. I discuss things with people. Isn't that the point of this forum? To discuss? If I have an objective opinion I express it, just like everyone else does. I also don't see what makes my opinion "little". Do you have to put my opinion down because you personally don't agree with it? That's pretty lame.
If you don't like the way I discuss things, you can block my posts. I don't really care if you do, it's no loss to me. I don't plan on stopping. If you don't like it, take your own advice and learn to let it go.
The only things we don't like about each other are the things we see in ourselves anyway, right?
so no recording?
Turns out the whole thing was a gimmick.

I don't understand exactly what you mean by "counter intuitive".
I agree with that. I actually take that attitude towards life in general, or at least I try to.
Are you saying you didn't like me as a person before? :(
If so I deserved it, sorry I used to be a dick to you. I just misunderstood you I guess.

Pointless post.
It was not "pointless."
I was letting everybody know my opinion of the song with the intention of the threadstarter suddenly coming to his senses, realizing he agress with me, and changing his plans altogether.
Everything and nothing has a point, darling.

TS obviously likes the song, and enough to learn it at that. If you read the first post, it's pretty evident.
I don't think the opinion of an anonymous person on the internet could influence his opinion enough to make him suddenly dislike the song- but that's just me.
Why would you want him to stop learning the song anyway? Whether he learns it or not, or likes the song or not has absolutely nothing to do with you.

I kid I kid. But I will be making videos of my progress in learning this song. Once it gets good enough, it'll be posted.
