161 murders in new Orleans last year. That's almost 1 every other day. And this year, 17 murders already. New Orleans had the highest crime rate in the nation in 2002, and it's only getting worse now that the police force has been diminished and the tax base has been cut.

So, why should we even bother spending millions upon millions of dollars to rebuild a cess pool, and then many millions more to prevent the inevitable geographical delapidation--more land lost to swamp, more hurricanes.

I say stop bothering to rebuild New Orleans and let the people move elsewhere.

Too late, the city has largely been "saved" in the sense that the downtown area has working utilities, the Bourbon Street/French Quarter tourism industry is thriving, and blah blah blah Saints Reggie Bush Drew Brees etc.

There are still a lot of homes that need to be fixed or demolished in the poorer sections, but it's not like people are actually going to decide "nah, it ain't worth it." This is a stupid thread and you continue to demonstrate your stupidity in all that you post about.

A bass player I played with was a total jazz nut, built his playing off Jaco, and he went to Nashville to be a session player.

i agree with this, but I dont see people learning from disasters on any shoreline, i feel like, (this mainly applies to private homes on the oceanfront) you buy a house so vunerable to may different damaging elements, YOU pay to fix it, period, not everyone else.

Someone who can afford to buy a million dollar house on stilts should be expected to cover any damage caused by storms that frequently destroy them.

Instead, everyone elses premiums rise to compensate for idiots waiting on the government to bail them out, when common sense says dont build a house at the bottom of a avalanche prone mountain.
