Hi, Im going to buy a tascam dp-01 or fostex mr-8. i would like to get the tascam, but i was just reading, and i noticed it doesnt have inputs for condenser mics! AHH

so is there something i can do to get a condenser mic plugged into some kind of external device or something...and then plug it into the 1/8 jack of the dp-01?

and if not, if i have to resort to the mr-8, does that thing even have an eq section on it? because that is basically what im worried about.

thanks

Any mic preamp that supplies phantom power will make it happen for you.

and that will plug into the 1/8 jack and act as an xlr jack?

Based on images, there are no 1/8" plugs on the DP-01. I only see 1/4" connections.

That being said, a mic pre with phantom power will have an XLR input, and will probably will have a 1/4" balanced output. You will then just need a TRS-TRS cable.

he's got it, you'll need a mic pre with (+48 Volts) phantom power, which will probably have a 1/4" balanced out put, so you just need a 1/4" TRS (Tip Ring Sleeve) to go into the the recorder.
