Moddind my pickguard

Ok, so I have a white pickguard on myy Ibanez bass and was just wondering how I can paint it or how can I put a picture on it?

For painting...What kind of Paint should I use? Can I paint over or do I have to sand it?

For pictures...I have no idea how to do this, I'm think spray paint but that could get all over my bass?

take off the pickguard first, dont just spray it while its on the body, thats a bad idea

There are a lot of factors involved.

1.) Whats your pickguard made out of?

2.) Is there a coating over the pickguard?

4.) What colour do you want it to be(be descriptive i.e shinny, satin.....)?
