As the question implies, I am looking to switch my guitar's humbucking pickup with a single coil pickup, but I have a couple of questions.
1.) Is it possible? Do they make single coils that fit humbucking holes?
2.) I want a bridge single coil pickup, but I also like my bridge humbucker. Can I purchase a bridge single coil, and have it keep that tone when placed in the neck position?
3.) Are there any suggestions?
Thanks for all of the help!

just get a humbucker with coil tap, or a gibson p-90, or bare knucke mississippi queen http://bareknucklepickups.co.uk/ZP-MQ.html

I must be a "noob" or something, but what is a "coil tap"?

coil tap is an option some humbuckers have where you can switch(with a push pull pot) from the regular humbucker setting to single coil. something to that effect

the p-90 and mississippi queen are actually regular single coil pickups, the coil tap just makes the humbucker lower output and in doing that making it almost like a single coil, but you get to keep the humbucker sound too.

See, I'm a big fan of the humbucker's sound, but I would also like to have the option of the single coil sound, too. But I don't like the sound of a neck pickup. Is there any way that I can just put a bridge single coil, that has the same dimensions as a humbucker (like the P-90 does), into the neck pickup and get that sound?

im not sure if i fully undersstand the question, but i think a coil split humbucker(maybe the Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates) would be what you want, it'll give you the humbucker and single coil sound. The bareknuckle Mississippi queen will work but it wont realy give you the humbucker sound. I really dont understand what you want to do witht the neck pickup. I think the Pearly Gates coil splitted is your best bet

With the pearly gates, I wouldn't have to worry about losing my sound at all, it looks like. I was thinking about replacing the neck pickup because I still wanted to keep my humbucking bridge pickup tone. But if I can have both in one spot, then it probably makes no difference. I'll have to check that out. Thanks

yea amy friend has a pearly gates in the bridge and it sounds great distorted and clean. He didnt even get his coil tapped and it still sounds great clean. You can coax a lot of good sounds out of the pearly gates
