Hey!
I've just gathered all the parts for the pedal I'm building (Envellope Filter/Sample & Hold device, using the circuit from old Maestro's)
I want to add true bypass abillities to the circuit, but I don't quite know how it works...
Explain how I could do this?
I'm quite new to building electronics...how can I modify my pedal to get the sound I want...surely not switching out random compenents till I found the sound I want?

I've researched this before myself. I'm really tired and can't quite think straight but here's the links I saved from my research!

if you don't need an indicator LED then just take a dpdt switch, have the input to the middle lug on one side, the output to the adjacent middle lug. connect the two bottom lugs with a jumper, and have the top lug on the input side run to the input on the board, and the top lug on the output side run to the output of the board.

okay, thanks
Also, there's a switch on the schematic that has six lugs too and I want to use it with a footswitch aswell as have a bicolor LED to show two different colors for each channel. If you need more info, I'll post the schematic....

Here: http://tonepad.com/getFile.asp?id=96
Where it says "Filter/ S+H switch" is what I'm changing with 9 lugs.

the dpdt switch I have, which is a footswitch, has 9 lugs in total. How should I wire it like that?
if it has 9 then thats a 3pdt switch, so you can wire in an LED with the true bypass.

i got that pic from www.diystompboxes.com like i said before, the forums on that site contain pretty much all of the information regarding pedals that you would ever need.
edit: you changed your post before i could finish typing that up, but that pic is a good reference anyway

then you'd do the same thing as in that picture, except move the +9v wire to the center lug, and then have one LED attatched to each of the other lugs in the middle.

Yeah, I've tried to join, but I'm still waiting on the admin to let me post(I registered two weeks ago).

k, that's the schematic, and I was wrong and I'm using 9 lug foot switch for the bypass and another 9 lug for "Filter S+H" switch (the schematic only shows how to do it with a 6 lug).
Can you draw out again, where each should go?What do you mean by +9v wire. Help me please!

you should be able to post already. make sure you went through the stuff in the confirmation email they send you.
the +9v is the red battery wire. so basically a wire running from wherever the red batttery wire goes in the schematic.
to use a 9 lug instead of 6 you just wire how they have you do the six, and with the extra row on you do what i told you to do for the middle row in my last post

ok, and the middle lug goes through a resistor and led (or is that just specifically for the pedal being used in that picture)?
I haven't recieved a confirmation email yet.

do exactly what the picture says for the bypass, and for the other switch you do what i said...
you just wire how they have you do the six lug switch, and with the extra row you put the +9v wire to the center lug, and then have one LED attatched to each of the other lugs in the row.
Edit:try registering again, it shouldn't take more than a day to get a confirmation email.

k thanks for helping, I understand how to do this now. I was just confused with how I need another resistor again. :)
I registered again and hopefully will get an email.

yeah, you need a resistor for each LED
