Theyre songs are alike but very different usually which is preety cool. The ambience of the song is also diferent but they still mantain that powermetal classic "all hell brakes loose drum kick at 12390bpms :P"
Theyre slow songs are awesome as well.

I made a thread on them awhile ago, but its probably really old at this point. I love Sonata and Black Sheep is probably my favorite.
I have been listening to The Sake of Revenge in my car for about the past three weeks. Its just so fun to blast that album and drive fast.

I have become a fan over time, as a keyboardist its an awsome band although i prefer Mikko way over Henrik (although he's cooler)

My friend sent me their EP Orientation. They do a really cool cover of Maiden's Die with Your Boots On.

What a good band. They're probably one of the only more "traditional" power metal bands I like.
They are unbelievable live too. Kakko knows how to get the crowd to do almost anything.

It's pretty good. I prefer their cover of Helloween's I Want Out though.

The songs you must listen to have to be adapted.
First of all, I miss Wildfire, which is kickass. Second, the boy who wanted to be a real puppet, white pearl black oceans, and shamandalie are on there imo, and kick off blinded no more/misplaced, definitely inferior to the ones I mentioned.
Replica, Weballergy, The End of This Chapter belong on there too.
Second, SA is an excellent band.
Third of all, they're cooperating on an rpg game called winterheart's guild.

and San Sebastien. That was the first SA song I heard and still my favourite. I used to listen to a lot of power metal a while ago, but Sonata Arctica are the only ones I still listen to, most other groups get too repetitive, especially with their swords and flames of glory and other clichéd lyrics.

The live album is the best thing they've done. Although they left Wolf and Raven off of it :(
My favorite song, Don't Say a Word, is on there though

Some of the most boring and inspired music I've ever heard. I cannot understand the hype on these guys.

I think the actual music is kind of boring, but Kakko's vocals are awesome, and their choruses are sooo catchy.

I think I'm going to see them when they come to Chicago in September. But I'll see if I even still like them in 9 months...

I really enjoy them, I only have Winterhearts Guild but I like it. Probably because they don't have super cliched lyrics.

Yeah, most of the lyrics have some message behind it, not just swords and fantasy.

I love the DVD. Good production (even though it's a bit weird, cause they're in Japan, and there's almost no crowd noise between songs), unbelievable setlist, and the best closing song I've ever heard before.
DaniHel
01-18-2007, 04:21 PM
Yes, the infamous "Vodka Song" :P
Yeah, i was told that in japan the crowd is usually silent between songs as a sign of respect or something....
