I don't really know what to think about this movie. Some parts were done really well and others were horrible.

I can't decide if I liked it or not. I couldn't really stand the main character because he went through the entire movie not really caring.

What are other people's thoughts on this films?

The action scenes were amazing. It was so intense. It was the slow parts and some of the characters that I really didn't like.

There's something I didn't like at all about this movie, yet, I can't pinpoint it. I think it may have been the abrupt ending and lack of expanding on how the crisis began. All we got was that lady talking about all of the sudden miscarriages at her hospital.

I think it's one of the best films I've ever seen. Seen it 5 times.

Theo started out not caring. He was a drunk with no hope. Throughout the film he gained hope. He wasn't really supposed to be a likable character at first.

And you don't find out why women are infertile because nobody in the film knows. All you know is what Theo knows. I don't see why anybody cares anyway, it doesn't matter.

I guess what I meant to say was that they didn't show how people reacted. What their initial actions were leading up to the world going to ****.

The infertile thing was like the zombies in Romero films because it was a mystery. There were theories (pollution, gamma rays, etc) but they could never pinpoint the real reason which left your imagination.

The opening scene might have been one of the most incredible introductions I've ever seen. I didn't know exactly what I was going to expect and it caught everyone by surprise.

I'll go back and see it again and maybe start to appreciate Theo's character a little more. I thought they could have done more with him like flashbacks or something.

i pretty much agree that some parts were incredible, and others were pretty terrible. it was almost like two different people directed the movie. and Sid was one of the worst characters i've ever seen.

Yeah I'll agree with those points... I didn't like how you didn't get much backstory on anybody or real explanation of what's happening. Don't care if this is intentional it sucks. But there were definitely some parts that were fantastic.

there is one shot in the film that i utterly adore. it starts with Theo trying to find the girl and the baby, and then he is running around and diving from place to place. the scene lasts about 5 minutes, is all one shot and one take. i couldn't believe what i was watching, completely mesmerised by it. in general, i loved the usage of really long shots.

i really liked this film, and am now going to watch it again. by the way, it's out on DVD tomorrow in the UK.

The scene where the car on fire goes in front of them and they get attacked by those people up until the girl dies and they get away was all one shot. It was insane.

This was one of my favorite movies of the year. The scene where Theo leaves the blown out building with the mother and baby has to be one of the most moving I can remember.

Plus, the soundtrack was flat-out badass.

.... without the zombies ofcourse.not particularly. it's a very bleak looking film, slow moving at times, but i find the patience is the key. can look similar to 28 days later in ways, but not? i can't really describe it, just imagine a place that's been at war for 20 years, and that's what it looks like. very blue and grey, gears of war ish.

The ending was kinda weird. The plot didn't make much sense to me too.
However, the action shots were amazing.

This is the one in refugee camp, right? Great stuff.

I'm really glad I finally got around to checking this out. Technically, I think it's the most beautiful movie I've seen in a long while. The attention to detail made the action scenes all the more intense. And the movie was definitely at its best when under tension. I'd probably concede that the plot and a few of the characters seemed a little under/overcooked. The whole relationship between Julianne Moore and Owens was especially soft, although probably necessary at the least.

I'd hardly say that Clive Owens' character went through the film without caring. You can look at the part where they're at the farm, for instance. He knew they planned on killing him; he could have easily ran off on his own, to damn with the girl and the baby. But at that point, I think he feels that the girl has invested her trust in him. And he feels a little responsible, especially since Moore's character bit it.

If they had tried to fill in more about the world the characters are set in, I don't know if that makes the same film. One of the key themes is obviously faith, and faith requires an absence of complete closure. They make it clear that nobody really knows what's causing the sterility and I think that's a plausible enough situation. There was plenty of time to flesh out the background of why the rest of the world has gone to ****, but that takes away from some of the more personal aspects of the story maybe. I dunno. I just liked it, all in all.

It's the shot where there's blood on the camera.
That was an accident, by the way. They decided to keep it which was smart. That was the best camera work in the film imo.
