i just finally bought the end of all things to come cd/dvd combo thing and when listening to it it hit me that mudvayne was a really good band that is really underratted, i mean their not super amazing but just underappreciated. i use to own L.D.50 and i always remembered thinking their was something diff. about these guys (not the makeup). anyway does anyone know if the new cds are any good?
If you're one to scoff at mainstream rock or at least a more mainstream sound then you'll likely not like Mudvayne's new albums.

i dunno to much about mainstream i did like the one hit they had, uh happy? and i dunno i just hope they don't turn out like cold did (make 13 ways to bleed on stage(a freaking masterpiece)then **** it up w/ their next album and thats it)

Im not a huge Mudvayne fan, but I though The End of All Things to Come and Lost and Found were decent. LD 50 is really good in my book. Possibly the best Nu-Metal release followed by SOAD's Toxicity, LP's Hybird Theory and the Deftones' White Pony.
They have some pretty good songs, but the one thing that always bugged me about them, is that it seems like they write a few good songs and then slack off on the rest.

They did take a bit of the Cold route actually.

man i love all deftones albums and white pony was really good and a big change for em, soad toxicity i hated so much, i felt like they just sold out big time, the only album i have by them is the self-titled w/ spider, sugar, p.l.u.c.k., cubeRT,etc.... and linkin park i never really got into them cause i was more into lost prophets, taproot (gift album), and spineshank.

I used to be into all of those bands when I was younger. I then got into thrash and melodic death metal and continued branching out.
I still listen to a few of those albums ever once in awhile though.

Lost and Found is the only album I haven't heard yet. I don't know if I want to. LD50 was great. The Beginning was also good, and I don't know if most people liked The End, but I did. Going by singles alone, which Lost and Found had a lot of, it's bad. That is, comparatively, it's still much more enjoyable than half of what's out there.

yeah i branched out too man and i listen to a ton of stuff and none of its the same, i can listen to anything rock. and my cds go from alanis morisette, eric clapton, children of bodom, bob marley, sublime, tool, type-o-negative, manmadegod, sloth, presence, nin, vex red, bread, live, ok i'm stopping but you get the idea. right now i'm into Children of Bodom, and Exodus, and more towards the metal scene.

Bodom rocks. I had tickets to see them in December, but my friends bailed out and I had no way of getting there. Im still pissed at them.

I havent seen that, but then again I live in New York and most of the shows are in the city. Everyone is used to racial diversity so no one pays any attention to it.

I don't care much for their older stuff. I really like Lost And Found though, they're getting more technical and seem to be delving into math metal a bit.

Ha, that reminds me, I probably should get Toxicity again.

i was under the impression that they soldout after their first album and started makeing emo music like this video they are in
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xwiIhDCLgQ
How can they sell out when they were mainstream to begin with?

yes they are. it's ok if you like 2nd rate mainsteam bands where they yell to get attention and the kiddies think it is cool, but you can't deny that they sold out

I believe the best answer is you don't know what real emo is. (I'm not entirely sure either)

I don't like them. I've listened to all of their albums and I find that their music is pretty generic and uninspired.

LD-50 was great and The End of All Things to Come was as well, but the stuff I've heard after those was absolutely terrible. I liked them when they were more progressive...bassist is nuts, though.

Mmm... they're alright. I've listened to them a bit, used to listen to them a lot. Not so much anymore. Havn't listened to them in months actualy. But they are decent. Not for musical expertise, but just for pure "meh, let's blare something loud" fashion.

TEOATTC had some good songs, and some bad ones. I haven't heard anything else by the band, really. I remember listening to them about a year ago or so, and actually getting why they were respected. They use some pretty weird patterns.

I have a few songs from it. I didn't like it much...it's not weird enough. And for them, that's what makes it good.

The fact that you name-dropped two of my favorite artists = :thumb: from me.
And you get another for saying that 13 Ways... is awesome and that A Different Kind of Pain sucks a fat one. So, :thumb: to you, too.

Seeing Mudvayne being praised is like farting during class and accidentally pooping yourself, and then having to give a presentation.
It's really, really, embarrassing.

Ive been a pretty big fan of them.. i like all the albums... well, except maybe the first one (re-released as The Beginning of all things to end.. or something like that).. has the only guitar solo (which shows why they dont do solos)..
ld 50 is amazing though.

yea greg has a solo on this Hellyeah single thats on the radio...its pretty bad. i dont think he should solo again.
...ever.
anyways, mudvayne is pretty awesome I dont believe they are just a "hey-lets-scream-angrily-while-blaring-obnoxiously-loud-and-fast-instruments-in-order-to-be-heavy" type band. Just listen to Ryans bass and Matt's drumming i swear this guy rarely uses the standard 4 cymbal count with bass on 1 and snare on 3 or normal double-pedal rolls and stuff. i always have fun trying to keep up with whatever he's doing. not really jaw dropping stuff but creative and unconventional. best drumming i'd ever heard when I picked up LD 50 those 5 years ago...
the concept of LD 50 is cool too what with all the references to evolutionary biology and the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey.
TEOATTC also has a really interesting concept, on the DVD Matt explains the meaning of the phrase "The End Of All Things To Come" and they discuss the different songs on the album and their lyrical content...tis cool.
Lost and Found is ok.....
