Synchestra was a disappointment, but it's all I can really vote for. So, that.

Shadows
01-13-2007, 10:52 AM
Mirrorthrone, although Dismember was a very close second.

Iron Bars

I really like Mirrorthone, but I think the Melvins album was great too.

I'm going to think it over some more.

It's by far my favorite of the three albums I've heard from Devy. Terria and Accelerated Evolution being the other two. How did it disappoint you?

Synchestra was kind of boring.

Melvins blew me away.

The end of Synchestra was a terrible letdown compared to what the first 9 tracks were.

I don't know, no particular complaints, just didn't seem like anything special.

Terria's one of my favourite albums, though.

Everything Townsend does = letdown/failure.

Shut up foo. You like black metal.

I will agree though. Even though the end is still freaking awesome, it doesn't compare with the excellence of the first 9 tracks. Notes From Africa picks it back up though, and Sunshine And Happiness is one of the coolest ways to end an album.

Dr. Jake Destructo
01-13-2007, 11:23 AM
That's just silly. How can you be let down by everything an artist does? I mean for you to be let down there needs to be a certain precedent set beforehand.

Dismember by a long shot. I await the onslaught of Mirrorthrone fanboys though.

I was kind of hoping for that fad to have come and gone already actually, heh.

Thankfully the Arsis one has. But at least Mirrorthrone is worthy of some praise, Arsis is completely mediocre.

Synchestra.. I do agree the latter half of the album wasn't up to par with the first, but Sunshine and Happiness makes up for that .

I prematurely vote for Mirrorthrone (certainly not because I'm a fanboy!), even though I haven't heard Giant Squid, and they're in Stolen Babies top friends on myspace, which means I'd probably love them...

Me and Joe were the original Arsis whores!! Besides, I was 100% against the whoring of the new Arsis album once it came out.

And that's honestly the only album on this list I liked, and one of the few good '06 releases.

Come on guys... one of the most brilliantly composed albums of all time, Mirrorthrone- Carriers Of Dust, and no one has heard this?

Gotta go with Metridium Fields...the album is amazing. Giant Squid are a great band...could use some more exposure here.

VOTE SQUID PEOPLE!

A few years ago, I saw them live in a small venue in sacramento. It was a decent show. They played well and it wasn't really that great of a sound.

Therefor, I voted Mirrorthrone. :thumb:

That roughly translates to: Before they were good.

Seriously, they released Metridium Fields earlier this year and it's killer; before they signed to The End they were awful.

It sounds like the same material as then, though. It was 05, I believe.

I hate to sound so shallow, but I just remember how flat that chick was. :p :p
