Hey I heard a lot about these sticks and considering buying them coming this Friday. Are they actually worth the price? Looking at it on muscians friend they're about 30 something but once converted to CAD I'm probably looking at about 35-40 or something around that. Can someone tell me a bit about it and any experience they have with the brand. If not I'll just opt out for some nude 5As

They break cymbals, and they break very easy. dont get em.

Aheads are definitely worth it. Sure, wood has tone, does't break your cymbals, and doesn't cost 30 bucks, but Aheads are HARRRRRDCORE HEAVY METAL!

I suggest you don't buy them. They have been known to crack cymbals. They also break easily on Rim Shots, and who wold want to have to avoid a rim shot!!!
Best to stick to wood. For tone and for the sake of your drums/cymbals/wrists.

Hey I heard a lot about these sticks and considering buying them coming this Friday. Are they actually worth the price?
no. there are cheaper ways to break cymbals. $6 pair of sticks + bad technique will work and youll save yourself $25.

ya for those who were being harsh, ct it out, he was just asking cause he didn't know.
now I suggest you stay away from Aheads, they do indeed crack your cymbals (it's like Metal on Metal, not good, Right?) and they do indeed break, just because they seem unbreakable is no reason to buy them, stay away, stay away. Also, pic up some vic firths! lol.

White's got it right. Aheads crack cymbals and in the long run wood is the way to go for tone. again i agree with White.... vic firth is the way to go

Please do not get ahead sticks. They really do break cymbals and even your kit if you love to do rim shots. Just stay with normal wood sticks. :) You can't go wrong with traditional wood sticks.
If you are looking for more durable sticks, look at oak wood sticks. Or if you think that they will be too heavy than have a look at carbon sticks. I have tried them at my local music store, they are light like 5a's but not sure if they live up to their promise of being more durable than wood. :)

i got a pair of AHEAD lars ulrich signature...and although they're great sticks..they werent what i was looking for. 1, they are very heavy..depending on what you usually use (im using vic firth 5A). 2, i bought mine at long & mcquade for 48$ CAN, so they are expensive. 3, when the say replacable shafts, its not on any of the signature models (ulrich, tommy lee, jordison), only on the..."regular" sticks if thats what you wanna call them. these sticks are more for really hard hitters. my opinion, if you like a beefy, heavy stick, hit fairly hard (and have the heads that can take the abuse), and have about 50 - 60$ to spend, then there great:chug:

I've played Aheads, and they seriously should be avoided. I find they dont balance like a normal stick, they've got a weird feel to them, and you cant use them for rim clicks, because the handle end is padded. Ontop of that, the guy that owns the pair I played snapped both sticks clean in half within a week of buying them, so they aren't even that durable compared to normal sticks.
Expensive waste of money sticks for Slipknot fans, and they will break your expensive cymbals. I'd rather go through sticks by the dozen than break my cymbals, thanks.

Ahead Drumsticks are made out of aluminum and some other cymbal breaking crap. Hitting metal on metal isn't a good idea. I'd rather spend $10 every week for new wood sticks than spend $150 and up on buying a new cymbal to replace the one that an Ahead destroyed. Plus they're pretty heavy too! Artists like Lars Ulrich and Tommy Lee use them because they have endorsements by Zildjian. If they break a cymbal, their drum techs come out and put a brand new one on. They don't give a #$%@ that they break cymbals!

Wrong...there are three types of shafts...
LT - Long taper
MT - Medium taper
ST - Short taper
You have to find which kind of taper your stick has and get those shafts. I believe the Ulrich sticks are long taper.

i used aheads for about a year never broke a cymbal. they do feel weird at first, they are heavier than wood sticks DUHH. The only problem that i started to have is the white tips started to fall off after a couple of months. I used them for practice all the time and then before a show i would switch too wooden cause they are lighter.
ya everyone says they break cymbals but im like winning the lotto i guess didn't break anyting.

Lar doesn't even use aheads for his right hand. Uses normal woods sticks for right, and ahead for left.
But these guys are right. They do cause considerable damage to your drum kit.
And i wanna see the scientific diagram. And vaters suck. All the pairs i've bought have never been pitched paired and they're uber brittle. VF is the way forward, or promark.

Its ok to laugh at people who self inflict death upon themselves like commit suicide or die by doing something really stupid...they asked for it.
People who die in accidents most likely didn't want to die so it's not ok to laugh.
