So it will happen to almost everyone, for me - It was Tuesday, Dec 26th 2006 when my father passed away.
Leaving myself the estate and more importantly, a younger sister, to care after has and will drastically effect my drumming life style. As to my abbility to remain a part of this community, I am unsure.
I'd like to publicly thank various people from this forum whom I've known over the years for their support and kind words.
Thank you, you have been as much friends as any ever.

Josiah,
Please express my sympathy for your loss. Although you and I have never gotten along in the past, I want you to know that all of that was just forum crap and had nothing to do with real life. I wish you the best for a happy future knowing that a lot of that stubborn toughness you have is going to get you through. If I can ever be of assistance, please let me know...seriously.

Sorry to hear that; I can't relate, I didn't know my father. But best of luck in coping, and with caring for your sister.
Don't leave MX, though!

Man, it's a horrible thing to go through, I would also know and I sympathise. It's very strange having new and unforseen responsibilities thrown on you, so make sure to keep your head above water and don't be afraid to push the male pride to one side now and again! I'll be sorry if you have to leave this forum :(

Sorry for your loss Josiah.
My Dad was diagnosed with cancer last year and I was terrified of losing him. He's a fighter though and has been doing well...his radiation treatment he's doing now should hopefully get the last of the cancer.
Even if you can't come here regularly anymore, which I'm sure everyone would understand, you should come back to visit occassionally.
Good luck with everything in the future

Our hearts here all go out to you and your familly Josiah. Its tough for each and every one of us when it happens.
You are a great user here on MX. And I can imagine you would be just the kind of person I need in my area! Someone who can relate to my interests. I have never suffered a loss of somone that close to me, I did lose a good friend a few months ago, and that really torn me up inside for a while.
its all a case of being strong and ploughing on with things. Just keep yourself going Josiah, and look after that sister of yours!

"Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up. You will increase my honor and comfort me once again."-Psalm 71:20-21
Whether your a Christian or not, I thought this verse might help to let you know that God is there for you and MX is here for you. My condolences to you and your family, I'm sure your father was a great man and will be missed by many. You are a great player, educator, and person, and I think I speak for the rest of this board in saying that we're praying for you and hope you will be back on MX when you can.

I am truly sorry for your loss Jos. I know what it's like to have important family members pass away, it's hard, but like they say, time will eventually heal it. You probably are, but use drumming as a good way to get the emotion out. Please Jewtastic, just go back to hell. You are a heartless little b!tch if I ever saw one. That was totally inappropriate and heartless, the first comment, "lol pwned" was hardly called for, but to respond and attack Jos when he didn't even do anything is completely and totally retarded. May God have mercy on your soul, if you even have one.

Josiah, i send you my condolences. I remember seeing you around here when i browse the gear and media section, and you always had valid points and a nice kit (If i can remember rightly). It's hard losing a family member, especially an immediate one. I can only hope that you can find the time to stay with your drumming, look after your sister and be on the forums. Be strong for your sister, she'll need the support...you'll both need each other a lot for the forseeable future.
Like everyone has said, MX is here for you if you need us. We'll never let you down...
