It looks pretty promising from the pictures. I hate iPod's with a passion, but this actually doesn't look too bad. It's completely touchscreen, which I found pretty cool.

Too bad it only comes in 4GB and 8GB models. I'm sure with time they'll expand the memory to hold enough to be considered an actual MP3 player, but until then I think I can wait.
Discuss.
good thing that nobody in the world uses Cingular

I was thinking the same thing. Not until the memory expands at least, but even then, it's still quite expensive.

Plus I'm fine with my current phone and I didn't read the spec's but it doesn't look like it has a camera although it might. I just don't really want a phone and mp3 player in one.
Plus I'll just wait for the 100GB iPod.

Yep I read it has a 2 MP camera. I think it would save space having the two together, but I'd only get a phone/mp3 player combo if they were good enough to stand alone, if that makes any sense.
But for now, I'm happy with my Zen Vision:M 30GB (=

I can't wait to hear all the horror stories about these things breaking in bags/pockets and how people wasted $600 on it.

and why the **** would you pay 100 dollars more for 2GB more of storage? All they do is insert a new flash memory card in there and bam

It's very sleek and sexy looking as is the case with most Apple products, but like most other Apple products, it's as expensive as hell. :-\
edit: wow, I just looked at all of the photos and :amaze: That thing is freaking nice.
Still as much as a PS3 though. :(

I'd rather get a PS3 over this, and you've all seen how much I despise Sony and the PS3.

If I needed to upgrade my phone, and needed an mp3 player, I think I'd consider getting this. But otherwise it is priced out of my league, and I've got everything it offers (cept for a touch screen) between my cellphone and mp3 player.

Plus my current cell is a reall peice of crap. The 6 and 9 don't really work and the screen is all gross. Plus I don't have an mp3 player...Now if only iTunes worked on my computer.

just so you gice know, i have over 1500 songs (@ 128 whatevers) on my ipod and it barely takes up 6GBs. Serioulsy, how mnay ****in songs do you need to carry with you at one point in time?

My entire record collection.
Seriously, I can't fit it all onto 20gigs let alone 8 or 6
I don't want to have to plug in and switch loads of songs round.
But no I wouldn't pay money for it, if I bought a phone its just a ****ing phone, i'm not too fussed about features because I only use it to make phonecalls and text. All I ask is that its small and light.

When the first gen iPod came out it was around 499 or so. I expect to see the same price decreases over time in the iPhone that happened to the iPod. As well, they will most likely in the future offer cheaper versions of the phone like they did with the nano and such.

i followed the live feed when he unveiled it, i have to admit, it looks very nice.
i dont like the usual psychotic mac fanboyism, but if it werent for the horrendous price tag that will come with it, id consider getting one
It's not a phone, it's just a palm computer by Mac. Besides which, I bet texting will be insanely hard on that thing.

it looks cool but i bet its a pain to use and it will prolly break easy, but it looks cool
The Transporter 2
01-10-2007, 03:23 PM
why will it break easy
Looks like it will get scratched really easily, which would probably affect the touchscreen.
Safari looks cool on it though. A decent web browser on a phone, which is weird. They should put iChat on it though.

I never thought about that, but now that you mention it, it would be hella hard. If only it had a slide out keyboard or something to make things like that easier.

i dont see how texting will be any harder, if imagine when phones came out people thought that about the tiny keypads, but when you do it now you dont think about it

But this thing uses a touchscreen keypad, not the number pad with letters on. Those buttons looks tiny.
Also, the screen is going to get dirty really fast.

I think the phone looks awesome, I've always been a fan of sleek, modern, artsy design. But $600 for a phone is insane. It better have a mini microwave or let me redirect missiles or something.

Hmmm, maybe I should wait for this and then finally upgrade from my first gen iPod.
I kinda like the glowy red buttons though.

Que?
iBoxers is just an accessory anyways. The iPhone is a stand alone.
And for most people, 4-8 gigs is plenty(not for most people on here though, like me).
Oh, and the quality of the pictures on there and all the screens look beautiful. I'm pretty sure that for $500-600 they'll put a pretty decent camera on there.

yeah but imagine putting all those videos and pictures and music they want you to put on, even small video clips take a lot of memory. its not much when you add all that up

Someone needs to put an end to this "iPhone" before it gets a few more features and starts hunting John Conner.

I hate cell phones to begin with (pay phones ftw), but I'd never buy this for the fact that 1) I'd lose it/break it and 2) something better would come out five minutes after I buy it.

I don't think they will take off anytime soon. They cost way too much for people to buy. When you look at who is buying Smart Phones right now anyways, it's businesses, and they are not going to spend that much on phones for their employees. That being said, even though the touchscreen is a good idea (although it's been done agggggggeess before by LG on a smart phone that looks oddly similar..) people like tactility.

Since I deleted pretty much everything on my PC and I lost about 4GB of music I really wouldn't need that much. Plus it's an upgrade on the camera on my current phone so I think I'll let the price drop a bit first, then I'll purchase one.
