It hits shelves on the 12th, and I'm pretty excited at this point. I'll probably be trading in whatever is necessary, and using up whatever credit it takes to secure my copy.

Apparently the special edition comes with a free map, so I might spring for the metal case.

Mine should be delivered that very day. I won't be playing Gears much online once I get this beast, it just insane. Thanks to the engine from Dead Rising the amount of bad guys on one screen is just amazing.

it's ****ing annoying that's my point. With the chainsaw you can hit them with anything and it'll bring the chainsaw down for a sec, which gives you a chance. You can do **** with the tags. Now obviously it's pretty easy to blow their head off first, but they can still even tag you as they die.

You might want to look into it a bit further so rabid halo 3 fanboys and drooling morons like Kif don't influence your opinion. And you have to keep the Crackdown disc to get in the beta, so good luck with that.

Yeah I suck at Gears online at the moment and even I know how to defend from chainsaw attacks well. It's a bit different if they are waiting for you, but if they are moving towards you you can just hit them with a shotgun, then finish them off.

I need more practise on that game.

Mine came in the mail today from Amazon. Only played through the first few levels, but already it's a lot better than the demo. The controls are easy to pick up, and while it's slow at times, in the firefights it can get very hectic depending on what you are fighting (Humans or aliens).

I'll complete it tomorrow I bet though, but it unlocks extreme mode which sounds very very hard.

Holy crap this game rules. I was just in a fight with this massive worm (It can't all fit on the screen, either the head or tail comes out of the ice), and it just wouldn't die. It turns out I killed it like 4 times since it just respawns, so I got the Worm Hunter achievement :)

I like that you can take the guns off of the mechs and use them yourself too. The mechs are good for boss battles, but I still like sniping guards with the rifle one by one.

I definitely prefer the story of Gears to this, but single player is still very fun. I tried killing the moth thing and couldn't do it either :(

I played the demo that official 360 magazine released about 3 weeks before the game came out, and I wasnt impressed. I thought the online gaming was stale, even with loads of people it just felt clunky.

The one player was pretty fun, but the controls killed it for me, it fely way to clunky, with the sholder bumpers to turn made it feel like it was on rails. It just felt really slow and old fashioned. I wont pay the full price for it, I'll get it once it comes down a bit though.

Yeah this game is surprisingly easy for single player until about level 8 onwards. When you're in a level with about 10+ mechs at once, it really does get fun.

I really didn't find normal hard in any way, but I did find it to be the most enjoyable 1p experience on my 360 to date.

the Hard mode is crazy, in that your thermal energy goes down ridiculously fast. The first boss was about 5-10 times harder than he was on Normal, which I was a big fan of.

The last boss fight is awesome, in that you get this new mech thats unplayable in all the other levels

I think it's the level with the volcano dome, there are dozens of flying lasers which have set paths, and if you trigger them, the lasers fly up and start shooting you. They can shield themselves as well.

You can avoid them, but there's a marker at the bottom, which I've been going for all through the game. You can't restart separate missions I don't think, so I thought I might as well grab what I can.

I find them particularly easy, as long as you don't have 15+ coming at you all at one time.

What I did is just get out the snipe rifle, and 2 shots will kill them at a distance. If you get a few of their attension at one time, i continually strafe until they drop their guard. If you aim at their little camera eye, you can kill one in about 5 seconds

Yeah, I realized quickly they are easily killable. Shame I only realized then when I tripped like 5 of them at once (How I don't know) and legged it back.

yea, those laser guys trip wire actually trips other laser guys to your posistion. I usually target the close ones at first.


Refresh my memory about that moth battle and I should be able to tell ya whats up

Yeah, you get the Moth Killer achievement for it. It's the massive one that flies over the level where you climb up the side of the mountain at the beginning, and boulders occasionally fall down thanks to the moth. Guess I'll have another crack at the moth later.

That final boss was quite a letdown. He's so easy compared to some of the other bosses.

well, for us it wasn't at first. I let my friend try him first, and the fukking moron skipped the controls for the last mech. He tried staying back and keep hitting his with that following laser move.

After he died, the controls came up, and he did the fukking same sh!t again. It took us about 10 deaths to realize i could charge the left trigger, get close, and put a hurting on the guy.

Then again Kif, playing those bosses on hard is a COMPLETELY different story

Apparently you just hold the start button and press a direction on the D-pad. Haven't tried it yet though.

My only gripe with the game is the controls. They can feel clunky at times, but you can change the reaction speed of the analog sticks to suit you. It starts off on 2, which is pretty bad, but you can go up to 10 which is very reactive.

As for the game, the level designs are amazing. Grappling is still fun to just do randomly. There's a great mixture of bad guys both alien and human that get harder progressively, and the VS's are awesome to use too. You will find it very easy from the start, although it does get harder around level 8.

Online play is really fun though. 8 on 8 team eliminations are the best I think, but they have deathmatch and a few other games too.

Nah, those 90-degree turns always go too far for me. It would be easier if it turned you to face the nearest enemy to your left or right. I'd prefer that, but this, you have to rely on your enemy being exactly 90-degrees away from you.

Had a few games on multiplayer today again, won some medals too. Well, 2, but that's not the point.

Thats how I am with halo1. I compare every shooter to it, but to me none of them compare to halo's epic campaign mode.

Just tried out the demo on Steam, game is pretty sweet. I jacked up the settings and averaged about 12 FPS. Does the entire game have that count down objective clock? I don't feel like playing an action game as if it were Need For Speed.

I own this game but hardly play it. The game is ridiculously frustrating due to save points and I usually never have the time or keep dying. I love fighting the big ol' aliens but fighting the other humans is sooo lame. Plus I don't have live so I can't play anything but the campaign which I gave up on.
