An off-shoot of the Dream Theater thread for discussion of the off-shoots from Dream Theater itself.

Knock yourselves out guys.

My dad listens to Trans-Atlantic, and from the random songs I've heard they're pretty good. But apparently they can't play together because of conflicting contracts, or something? That's pretty stupid.

OSI are awesome. Kevin Moore is one fine musician. I really like his husky, world-weary singing voice. Matheos is a damn good guitarist too, he's come up with some sweet riffs with OSI. ShutDOWN being a good example.

I haven't heard OSI's first CD, but I have Free and it rawks.

And I love Neal Morse and Transatlantic. I'm getting into Morse's solo stuff, and I have a few Spock's Beard CDs. He is so distinct but all of his stuff is fun to listen to.

Kevin Moore is indeed one fine musician, which is why I question the absence of Chroma Key from this thread's title.

OSI is dry and boring as all get out.

The discussion is not limited to the bands in the thread title - by all means discuss LTE, Chroma Key and any other DT side-project.

I found Chroma Key to be really boring actually.

Nope

Would you mind uploading that for the Daily Upload? Or at least just for me?

OSI and TransAtlantic rock.

Damn right.

bwnstl

Proof.

?? What is that supposed to mean.

I think their self-titled is some really good, mellow melodic rock with enough variation in the songs to keep the listener's interest.

Oh wait, I forgot; they're not King Crimson, so they can't be good, right?

I think you should explain what's so good about Chroma Key, because I was severely disappointed and unimpressed (and bored) when I listened to it.

I didn't know Chroma Key was a DT sideproject.

Even The Waves is a pretty amazing song, but that's all I've actually heard. /deprived

Chroma Key is Kevin Moore's project.

LTE should be in the title of the thread - they're the essential DT side project.

It's not my fault that your taste in music sucks.

It isn't, it's Kevin Moore's band after he quit DT
And Even the waves is one of my favorite songs ever... Other songs from that album are really great too (can't remember the name of it atm)

I gave OSI another listen and I can honestly say they are extremely boring and I can't hear anything special about them at all.

Yeah, I understand that music can be good because it sounds good, but I was looking for a more in-depth explanation of why you like it.

I got the first OSI album the other day. It's sweet as. Matheos knows his riffs.
