So just for fun, what are some "things" that you absolutely love to see in rock music, and you think there should be more of? We are not putting down rock, we are discussing things we love about rock.
- harmonicas
- hammond organs
- 12 bar blues with killer turnarounds
- hashish
- pedal steel licks with Les Pauls a la Mike Bloomfield
- chicks who can wail
- improvisation
And just to beat all the metalheads to it:
- chugga/djent
:chug:

I agree with everything you said, tbh.
Especially the hammond.

I think more bands should make use of Hammonds.

I want to learn how to do some pedal steel sounding stuff on my guitar.

I want a hammond organ. So sweet. My keyboard organ sound blows. Can't come close to the hammond. Harmonicas are overlooked too.
Also, more incorporation of world music. Like Derek Trucks. You got the funky hammond organ, with the bongos and tabla for crazy percussion, and the bluesy slide guitar. You can't beat that.
I would only like those things in blues-based rock.

The world needs more 12-bar blues songs.
Definitely.
For sure.
It's a fact.

When drummers sing.
And smashing equipment of course.

Out of what's been listed, I can only strongly agree with hashish.
Wah in older rock is pwn too. Now it's just so 'oh great, Godsmack'-sounding.

(123 to the sarcasm, also)

I'd love to see more of this in rock.

In all seriousness, originality is what I care about.
I would only like those things in blues-based rock.
You'd be surprised how well a Hammond can work in many different genres, though.

i like solid drums that sound awesome with the toms n stuff, lots of fast thrashy chuga and lots of sweet solos and awesome bass and vocals that are pleasent to listen to and sound cool and go along good with the song

Hammonds and Mellotrons.

Mellotrons are a lost art. Probably one of my favorite sounds in rock n roll. The only timeless musical technology are pianos, mellotrons, and the human voice.

Arnt mellotrons those things that play something recorded for each key pressed?
As for what I would like to some more of, Improvisation and Hammond Organs oh and synthesizers are good too, for example Emerson Lake And Palmer.

I know Lennon used it often, the first instance that comes to mind is the very beginning of "Strawberry Fields Forever". Trent Reznor uses it a lot in NIN's music, and he actually owns the same one that Lennon used.

I've always liked how that one Crampton guy sings using his guitar to pitch his voice. Like he sings in a monotone, and shapes the tone with the notes he plays on his guitar.
What the hell are you talking about?

I'd play both guitars and make different noises into both, at the same time.

You could only put your mouth on one box though. Where would the other one go?
...Maybe don't answer that.
