Sequels that are superior to their originals....

So, I was watching Scream 2 the other night(which isn't an example of being superior to its original), and it has a scene in it where they talk about sequels being inferior to the first.
So, what are some movie sequels that, in your opinion, are better than the first one.
Many say The Godfather 2, but I disagree.
The only thing I can think of right now is PotC: Dead Man's Chest.

In my opinion The Godfather II ain't better than the first. Anyways, The Matrix comes in mind, I found the first film to be rather boring, but indispensable. Same goes for Lord Of The Rings, altough the first movie there ain't boring at all, the next 2 movies are just a little bit better. Also, not really a movie but the sequel to Jackass The Movie was funnier than the original. Not really a movie, but the first Band Of Brothers was no where as good as the sequels.

Eh, I liked Empire Strikes Back best of the starwars movies.


But that's really the only example I can thinking. Sequels almost always suck, even if the first one was good.

The only reason 90% of sequels are made is to capitalize on an already popular movie. Greedy bastards trying to milk something good for all it's worth.

Are you kidding? That was one of the most painfully bad movies I've ever sat through, whereas the first one was awesome.

Many video game sequels are better just because the technology improved, like Civ 2, Half-Life, Worms World Party (which I can't ****ing find the CD for, pisses me off)

I loved Pirates 2, but don't think it was better than the first...I think the problem is a lot of people don't realize that there's a third that ties directly in with the second. Then a lot of people just kinda found it boring, oh well...I thought it was just plain entertaining even if it wasn't the most intelligent movie ever made.

Pirates 2 was ok, it had a few funny moments but I'd say the first was better. A lot of the stuff was too predictable (although not like the first was very surprising either).
