Not sure what prompted it, but I decided to finally get into the Cult. They freaking rule. Anyone else into them? So far, my favorite album is "Sonic Temple," mostly because it's awesome. As far as "hits" go, it's the one with Fire Woman and Sweet Soul Sister, but all of the tracks are ace. So, yeah...talk about the Cult!

What do they sound like?

Hmm...80's hard rock, I suppose. Kinda classic rock-ish.

I did a write-up on them a couple months ago, if you recall. The Cult are difficult to define as they have a heavy classic rock influence, but have never strayed completely from their post-punk roots. Ian Astbury was originally a singer for the Goth rock band Southern Death Cult, but as time went on the sound evolved and line-up changes resulted in The Cult.

Hmm...no, I missed that one. :( Sorry! I don't suppose it's still floating around the forum anywhere...?
Awsome band IMHO. Followed them from when they first released She Sells Sanctury. For me the best album was Beyond Good and Evil which has several songs with drop tuning on the guitars.:thumb:

Sonic Temple is a great album. Definitely The Cult's masterpiece. I've been listening to that album for a long time, and it never gets old. Sweet Soul Sister has to be my favorite track.

They'd be cooler if Ian didn't make everyone call him "wolfchild".

Great great band. Glad you like 'em Det. Seriously, I love just blasting Fire Woman or Spiritwalker.

He left for a while because his trolling accounts proclaiming the extreme evil wrought on R&M when the Opeth thread was closed were revealed to be him.
Anyways, I listened to The Cult thanks to Steerpike. Unfortunately, I didn't find much appeal in them.
Probably because you have no sense of cool, Jake.
You should see a doctor about that.

I like their hits, but other than that not much. I have one album by them that I got from my uncle. I listened to it once, and have been completely turned off of them ever since.

I was at a friends house and he was watching some stupid movie with Amanda Peet and Kutcher, and I noticed, after a few bowls, Amanda's character was wearing a Sonic Temple shirt! I think it was called ''A Lot Like Love''. I thought that was cool, but the movie sucks.
He left for a while because his trolling accounts proclaiming the extreme evil wrought on R&M when the Opeth thread was closed were revealed to be him.
Actually, it was on my computer and it was on an account I was planning on starting over on, but I seriously never started any of those retarded threads. Yes, I admit I miss the old threads, but I made my point with the Opeth thread, and feel great to be a part of this site since I joined.
