I'm pretty bad with this kind of setting up, can anyone on here give me some advise?

This is how i want it set up, i have all the guitars/drums/computers/amps etc. all i need to do is wire it all up right (and maybe buy a new soundcard and get some software).

this is how i want it to work:

With the bass is it as simple as buying a signal splitter and taking one cable to the amp and another to the computer?

With the drums should i bother with midi or just take an audio lead out into the computer? I could also split the signal and take it directly to a different set of speakers if that makes it easier.

How can i get it to record each instruments track individually, what soundcard stuff do i need to get to plug them all in (i'd like to have an optional extra 2-3 instruments too (guitar/keyboard/vocals)? or should i just set it up to mix them all into one (do i need to buy something special for that?), is it even possible?

I dont need pro recording quality, just 'good enough' for some fun recording and maybe making some semi serious tracks.

Thanks.

First of all you don't need a signal splitter, to get the sound from the bass amp to the soundcard you could DI or mic it. That would sound a lot better.

Just some questions:

Are you recording both at the same time?

Do you have a mixer?

Audio interface?

I would say investing in a little mixer would be a good idea.

My suggestion:

Bass -> DI box -> both mixer and Amp(most DIs have two or more outputs) -> Soundcard -> Protools/adobe audition

If you have a soundcard with multiple inputs, then simply hook the drums to the soundcard and the mixer to the soundcard.

If you don't have a soundcard with multiple inputs, you're gonna need to invest in one or get a USB system.

at least... that's my oppinion.
