The Podxt will work fine. If you get serious into bass recording, then you can buy an expansion pack for the podxt that gives it bass cabs and amps.

if you can afford it I highly recommend an American Fender Jazz, if you want something to record with then you will want a quality instrument so if I was you I would save my money and buy a top quality bass rather than stuffing around with lower quality basses. I recently bought a said bass and I cant believe the difference in sound from A fender jazz to all my other basses!

What sort of music are you playing? Lots of different basses give lots of different sounds
Also, do you mean a guitar POD?

a Line6 Podxt... it's what i use to record gutiars, theres a bass version too, But ive been using it with basses and its been decent enough, but kinda wana learn some basslines too...
my friennds have some lovely basses, that i use, but cant get to complex basslines efficiently since they're righty... i used to a few times tho, an nice 5 string fretless fender, it was very nice if i say so myself...
But time to get one myself, Im sure a higer end one is always nicer to get, but its sometihng simple, jus wondering if they are decent?
