Well here's my GK beginner bass when I bought it.

Here it is as it was known as the ghetto king.

Since then I have decided to mod it. First I took off the neck and stripped it and am in the process of refinishing it with tung oil.

Next I took off the pickguard and filled in the holes. I then cut out a piece of plexiglass for the control cavity.

Bought a cheap jazz bass pickup, routed it in the bridge position.

I then cut out a piece of plexiglass that fits right into the cavity and I painted it black and installed LED's. I just need to refinish the body.

Haha. I plan to clean up the wiring. This was a mock up more or less.

My dad has lots of expierence in carpentry and I know he's certified electrician too as well as mechanic.

IDK, my dad had some plexiglass in the tool shed which I screwed up trying to make a full pickguard for the bass.

I just cut it with a jigsaw. Wood blades give you a nice clean cut but can ofter snap the plexiglass. Metal bits don't snap but the heat kinda loosely welds it back together and you have to smack it on something to break it apart. I then use a file, sand paper and usually a dremel to further shape everything.

Just read the bit about the after pics basically.

I liked it but it was a tad bland. I had been itching to slap a jazz bass pup into it for a while too.

how would you wire and rought a j-bass style or humbucking bridge pickup without ruining the finish on a squire p bass

by the way like what you did with it

Thanks mate!

Basically you draw out the shape and use the router, simple really. But the hole to the cavity is a bitch. I basically drilled a hole from the corner of the jazz cavity to the p cavity (lol). Drilled down a bit with a small bit then connected it from the p cavity.
