VERY VERY VERY NICE!!! Only major complaints are that drums sounded pretty bad(good playing but they weren't mic'd up good) and no lead parts for the most part(an opeth type singer would be awsome for this band).

I also didn't hear any jazz in the first song but I'll take a listen to other one too. Great stuff amazing!

Okay...I have to admit, when I saw "Jazz-Metal Hybrid", I expected a crap-o-sonic, oscillating-fan, knee-deep, frog-in-a-blender, abbatoir of crap...(just being honest)...personally, I love Jazz...not too hot on Metal...

However...

Not only did it surprise me, it effing blew my socks off, which is quite a mean feat considering I'm not wearing any. I'm actually in the process of forwarding that myspace link to some of my friends, asking them what they think, 'cuz I can't quite get my melon round this.... I don't WANT to like it, I really don't...to tell the truth...I WANT to HATE it...but I can't...it's just so damn....well...GOOD!

they've managed to capture the semi-free-form-yet-organized looseness of jazz with the unrefined emotion and rawness of metal...it's almost like Pat Metheny, Hum, Jon McLaughlin, and Iron Maiden got together and had a love child....

It's absolutely nothing I should like...but I can't help myself....

Some notes:

I agree with Focker, the drums need to be re-mic'd, they're missing from the stage, but add a good PZM on the kick, and a low level cardioid condenser over the cymbals & hats, and that's fixed. They should, however, kiss the drummer full on the lips for his sheer virtuosity. I mean, ****, he changes styles at the flick of a switch...Big ups for Chad!!!!

The first track "Throwing Diamonds to the Dogs" has a buttload+ of audio level clipping, esp on the guitar parts. Not yummy, crunchy, distortion, but hard overload clipping. Makes the overall sound a bit muddy...on the second track I didn't hear any that was very obvious. however, you might want to throw some compression on the guitars while you're recording.

I don't know what you're using to record, but either it's dropping some stuff in the recording or the conversion to mp3, there's tiny holes. The transitions, while quick (as they sound like they should be), are not clean....there's some missing data somewhere...it actually sounds like about 5:15 into "Fixing Swiss Wrist..." there's a couple of second jump missing a transition. (I reloaded the track a couple of times to make sure it wasn't my internet connection)

ANyway...I'm pretty impressed...
Cheers

Not much to say that hasn't already been said. Anyway...****ing awesome. I really like the Fixing Swiss Wrist song, tons. Other than the sound quality of the drums, it's ...well... still awesome, but, you know. Drums could sound better. What those other guys said...

hey
the band would like to say thanks, heres what they said

"Big thanks to everybody who had good things to say about us. Thanks also for the constructive criticism. We would have liked to improve the quality but we didn't have money to mix it. We are however getting it mastered for free by the ex-guitar player of between the buried and me, Rob Hixon. He's a close friend to one of our guitar players, so the Re-mastered stuff should be up within maybe two weeks. We worked really hard on all this and we do have more music we are trying to get out there. we are really excited about all the positive feedback. Thanks again to everybody. If your in the 757 area of Virginia tonight or January 6th. We have flyers for shows on those dates in our pictures section. Much love to everybody.
