PA system to computer as a mixer for recording?

As of now, I have no way of hooking up mics with XLR to my computer. So my crazy idea is using the PA system as a mixer, in a way. Last time I made the foolish mistake of using the actual speaker outputs (couldn't find any other output :confused: ) and actually damaged my laptop's mic input :( . However, in the back of the PA sytem is an effect loops output. Now I'm thinking, this could serve as an output for a quarter inch which will be converted to 1/8 for my other computer. But does it seem possible that this idea might end up damaging my computer again?

It might work, but you might not be able to hear anything from the PA speakers.

Use the RCA tape out instead dude. Use a rca - 1/8 phono lead (you can get them from hi-fi and computer stores).
