Hey guys my band just got done recording two of our songs and I wanted some honest feedback. The songs are called Stand Your Ground and This Confession Has Meant Nothing, so yeah, feel free to be mean and everything, just let me know what you think!

ha I don't know if that necessarily means anything but thanks! Anything in particular you liked/thought we needed to work on etc?

Very cliche'. I guess if ordinary, nothing special is what you are aiming for, then you got it. It was way to whiny for my tastes though.

I agree with this statement, if this is the type of genre your looking to get into you have done it. sounds just like every other emo band I have heard. Songs sound pretty good. but I am really not a fan of this kind of music so congratulations yet another rising emo band.

i hope this fad fades soon :(

Hey I appreciate the feedback but....if you've already decided ahead of time you don't like the music we play then your comments aren't really useful. I mean, I don't like a good 90% of the music that gets posted in here but I try to judge it on what it is, not on what kind of music I like....

So yeah, if you don't like the style of music my band plays and you can't get past that then don't comment, because it doesn't help at all. I'm sorry, I should have been more specific...Please check out my band and tell me what you think of OUR music, don't give me your personal take on an entire genre of music.

Thanks for all the REAL feedback(Guitarplayer546) though you guys.

Well, then if you don't want to hear other people's opinions on your music, don't post it. In essence that is what a critique is. If you want people to tell about how awesome and godly your band is you should go somewhere else, because you aren't going to get that here. Also, there was some REAL feedback. Maybe if you become a little less arrogant about your work you could see that.

Fair enough, how I came was rude because your right I dont really like that type of genre, I had to listen to that type of music a lot in car rides with friends or what have you and i dont think it is all that great in general..

some actuall comments on your music is going to be this.

i think the best part of your 5 piece is the vocals, for what it is, it is great. the type of genre you are looking to get into, your voice sounds like all the "greats" now this can be a good or bad thing. if you want to sound unique try different things with your songs vocally. if it doesnt work no big.

where are these recordings done?

i listened to this confession and stand your ground, the other one wasnt working.

I have listened to a lot of this music in the past so its not to say straight out i just dont like this, ive listened to many bands in this genre and i never heard any song that really just blew me away.

i guess in short i dont really hate the genre, it is that its always the same thing over and over again. for example panic at the disco and another band(i cant remember there name) sound exactly alike, if i heard a song of either of theres on the radio i would have no idea who it was.

try to make your songs stand out in that genre and you will have success. what i did like about your songs is that your singer did very well. seemed for the most part was singing in key etc etc.

for every person that thinks your band is the ****, there will be 20 people saying you suck. if you guys keep it up you will see that all the time. dont expect it to be different on a forum.

no man, that wasn't directed at you. I was saying before that I appreciate that you can recognize us for what we are, not compare us side by side with a band/genre you like that we don't sound like. Thanks again, that's basically exactly what I was asking for. And we recorded this in our drummer's basement, basic home recording I guess.

well if you guys are serious about music which it sounds like you are, make sure you fine tune those recordings, if they arent done in a studio go somewhere and get them professionally done. only thing i can say is to just try to work at playing what you enjoy, but dont make it sound like every other emo band out there, because frankly 99% of them i thik are garbage.

no, you said you don't like the style of music and that it was 'too whiny' for you. You didn't say anything about the actual band except that it was the kind of music you don't listen to...so you are never going to be the 'target market' so your opinion will never do me any good. I mean be honest, no matter how good we got YOU will never like us because YOU will never like this kind of music so YOU will always think we suck. I'm not arrogant, I just don't need your opinion if you say right up front you hate the style of music because it's always going to be negative. And when did I say my band was awesome and godly anyway??? I just asked for honest feedback and instead you insult us and give us your own take on the entire genre of music. There's more to music than originality, and even the music that you listen to (which I'm sure is very awesome and unique and no one knows about except for you) was inspired by someone....so I'd appreciate and listen to whatever you have to say about my band, but not if you're going to be completely unhelpful and conceited, and then get mad when i call you on it. It's not impossible dude, guitarplayer546 did just fine.

sound wise, yes it sounds good. the style your doing, take this as you will but it does sound the same as other bands that are big names and what not. you could take that both good and bad in that its not very original, but does sound as good as those other bands, although they do have professional recordings comparied to your probably home studio equipment.

i wasnt being a dick up there by the way, i enjoy that genre to some extent. theres alot of the more...i hate this term...emo bands...that i hate. but, yes, there are some i dig alot.

The vocals remind me alot, i mean alot of the early november. and on that second song, some good harmonys going on.

you also slightly remind me of this local band i listen to alot from san antonio, texas named Westbound Departure. id give them a good listen, i enjoy there music alot. i wont advertise there website but they are on myspace under that name.

....and by the way, how do you post the link so it works. it always gives a 404 error message and i gotta repost it.

I don't think much of the genre, but at least you guys are in time.
The vocalist does well, he fits this mood perfectly.
I love the mixing on the drums, except for the snare. A little more bite could be good in it.
The vocal harmonies could use a little work.. mixing-wise, I mean. Sometimes the falsetto part comes way louder.
Sometimes the drums overpower everything.

Guitar leads aren't anything special, the tone's good.

Looks like you've got quite a nice following. Good job
