Description: I recently received this "Samson C01U USB Studio Condenser" microphone and decided to try my luck at a little free style live recording session. I was sitting roughly 2 feet away from the microphone with a 1990's Lotus LAVP guitar. I'm extremely new to playing guitar and even newer to singing.

Task: Highlight any note worthy sections, include criticism. Put the voice into a category of singers if possible. Note anything else that could be helpful.

Thanks for your time reviewing my recording. I appreciate your feedback in advance.

Oomph.

First off, return that Samson mic. Instead, invest in a CAD GXL2200 condensor mic and a decent interface.

Everything is really hard to hear.. Next time sit with the mic about 6 inches from the 12th fret on your guitar, it'll pick your voice and guitar up decently. adjust accordingly.

your voice... needs work. next time, don't improvise your guitar playing or lyrics. write some half decent lyrics at least, and plan out your chord progression.

I can tell by the tonality of your voice that you do have the capability to be a good singer, but you just need to work out the real dynamics of singing. There's lots of online lessons for that.

How much was that mic? I think I just saw that on youtube when I typed in "condenser microphones".

Anyway, the recording doesn't sound too great. It almost seems like you can achieve this sound with a PC mic as well, I didn't that much of a difference.

I agree with above, position the mic near the twelfth fret of the guitar. I think two feet was a little far here. Hopefully you can find some better sound more closer.
