i play a lefthanded epiphone sg, and i find the frets too big. now since i don't have the money to buy a strat, i'm gonna put on a new neck. but heres the thing, the sg400 neck is set into the guitar and only goes into the body for about 1 cm. now if i was to put in a strat neck, not only would i be unable to bolt it on, but i'd have the problem of "would it even stay on with the amount of space allowed for it to fit in?".

now, i was thinking, since there in about 2-3 centimetres more space between the pickup and neck, i could just cut some of that away and slide in the new fender strat neck.

what do you guys think? i could go with a gibson neck, but i'm looking for one with small frets like a strat one. so lemme know please.

oh, i'm also thinking of fitting a floyd rose on it, but i was told that that it would go right through the thin sg body and be sticking out the other end. if you could give me your opinion on that it'd be much appreciated guys

It wont work. It'll be too hard to take out a set neck and not worth it. You could

a) sell the epiphone and buy a mexican fender or
b) sell the epiphone and go to rondomusic.net and pick up an agile of some sort.

might be able to file down the frets so they're not quite as tall.

but yeah, removing that neck, and setting a strat neck would take alot of work, i would think. you could probably get like 200, maybe more for that guitar if its still in good condition, and then either save money to get a lefty strat, or buy a used one if you can find one.
