Lol sweet.that is very nice of you/
aww thanks!
my church's been supporting me through a lot of hard times, and has given me a lot, including the opprotunity to play drums in various choirs and performances over the past 3 years. This summer will be my last since i'll be off to university in the fall, so I wanted to get something nice.
And, if i buy it now, it can be filed as a donation for taxes. :D

I love the idea man,I'm just not sure about the veneer, I haven't been following your thread on DS, but i saw the pics of the church, and i think that will look ok. But maybe something a little less busy? Good one though ;)

my thought is that the color is similar (once the topcoat is finished), so in order to not blend in it'll need some crazy lines for distinction.
Parradiddle Pete
12-28-2006, 11:13 AM
Ok, I'll give you £1 towards it, if you give me £50 towards my cymbals ;)

Here's mostly my idea for the kick head: (note: it's a ****ty MS Paint job.)
http://www.inkinc.hostedz.com/images/drums/Stuff/remo%20fiberskyn1.jpg
and then around the diameter will be either this text:
Sing to God a new song; play skilfully with joyful song -- Psalm 33
or, if it fits:
Shout joyfully to God, all you on earth; sing of his glorious name; give him glorious praise! -- Psalm 66
what do you think?

Looks cool, whats the veneer's name?
Chippy569
12-28-2006, 08:11 PM
ash olive swirl.
same stuff as that ABSOULTELY FUGLY DW kit that they died green and blue, except without the fugly.

12-28-2006, 08:14 PM
Nice....you sure it isnt "burl"?
Chippy569
12-28-2006, 08:15 PM
burl, swirl, same thing really. (ok, comes from different growth, but looks the same)
ludvista29
12-28-2006, 08:16 PM

I'd skip the text on the bass head. It's a nice gesture and all, but, standing up you wouldn't be able to read it, and it wont be easy to read from a distance. If I were you, I would just write that on the inside of one of the drums, and sign your name.

thats really cool, I would go with that actually, and ya, it's really cool of you to buy those for your church, I played in my churches band for a while but all of a sudden I stopped going to that church (I am now a Seventh Day Adventist and Proud of it,) but yah, if this church forms a band I will definately be buying a kit for it.

Imagine if you donate a gorgeous kit to your church before you leave, and then some Travis worshipping n00b with Aheads and no technique starts playing it?
I think my heart would give up.

He's giving it to a church.
I think god would step in and smite the kid.

no, God probably wouldn't do anything to protect it, it is only a material possesion anyways, but then again it does mean a lot to chippy so I think maybee he would just allow the kid to ahve better technique while playing those drums haha
And, Could God Himself Microwave a Burito So Hot, That He himself Could Not Eat it?????? that's been bugging the crap out of me for a long time haha, I know the answer lies within the fact that in our world everything has limits and what not, but i just can't think of a good answer for that haha.

man, you ask the wrong questions.
If God made the world in 6 days, and we are made in his likeness, why does it take us nine months to make 1(or two... stfu) baby?
How do we know God is a He, anyway? (maybe somewhere up there, there's a lady with the WORST PMS ever, and then that's where we get dark ages from. or global warming? puh! hotflashes.)
or, i love this joke:
One day, a man was talking to god. He asked god, "God, what's a million years to you?" and god said "A million years, is but a minute." He then asked god, "God, what's a million dollars to you?" And god say, "A million dollars, is but a penny." SO then the man said "God, can I have a penny?"
And God said "Sure, hold on a minute"
and FWIW, if God don't smite the kid, I sure will.

Hmmm...seems cluttered to me.
"And what does the Holy Ghost think of all this?"
"Oh, he's useless, Dad. Got a sheet over his head these days."

I personally don't believe that it was 6 human day's but, I think ages would be a better term, or else things like dinosaurs shouldn't exist.
But it's just like when people say that science contradicts religion, It all depends on how people interpret things, and peoples personal opinions and beliefs.
On topic: It is a very nice gesture, and I really like that veneer, and that head looks great

I heard that joke as a million years being 1 Second, but yah, I love that one haha
And we know god is a man because, well "Quote: Lord Our FATHER" and Jesus also makes 100's of references to God Being a Man.
And because god is a much more powerful being then we are, and that 9 months is pretty much a period of test, if you are willing to go through 9 months of pain for the baby, then you love it. Pretty much lol.
But that question that I asked is not jsut if he can do that, but the fact that, does god have limits????? Can he create Something that he cannot control? if he couldn't create something he can't control, then that itself is a limit is it not???? But then I think, only in our world is there such thing as limits.
Like God does not have a begining or an end, those are only factors of our world (everything must hve a beginning and an End) but the world god lives in, there is no beginning, or an end, Something of course that we cannot understand or comprehend, but still.
I apologize for my little confusing speil there haha, comment if you want.
Also, a question for thought. Why is it that God created the world in 6 days and rested on the 7th and intended for man to do the same (rest and Worship on the 7th day) but yet, we go to church (worship) and Rest, on sunday????? the 1rst day (the church i attend is very big on that question, we go to church on Saturday, and I'm just wondering what everyone thinks about that? lol.)

God is non gender specific because he is not a human.
Nor does he need to mate.
And the universe has always existed (eternal) because for god to exist, existance would need to exist. Nothing could start existance off without existance.
That is if there is a god, i'm agnostic see.
But yeah thats an awesome idea, I especially like the kick head.
Maybe you could get like a custom stool with a holy cross embroidered on it.
