What sort of genre do you play?
Most AC/DC is good to start on.

"The Reason" by Hoobastank is easy to play, "Beverly Hills" by Weezer is also easy. "Wake Me Up When September Ends" by Green Day is another easy one. Don't know if you like those songs, but whether you do or not they at least help you with getting started playing songs on drums.

I started with Rammstein.

Fun and... well... it's fun.

^_^

A lot of Metallica (Bellz especially) work as beginner songs.

AC/DC

i really enjoyed playing it when I started, they got really easy breaks and bridges in their songs and stuff that are fun to play along to, and VERY easy.

Try and Learn a Song in each genre, Rock, Metal Jazz, Funk, Soul, R&B, try learning one easy song in each of these genres, and keep working your way up

Hey There!
If your an absolute beginner, id say "The White Stripes" is a good band to start off with, but gets real boring real fast..
so try playing "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams - Green Day." Reeeal easy!

I agree with amethyst above ^^^

But some OTHER good bands that "most" songs are easy to drum to are...
AC/DC (we all knew that)
Black Sabbath
Weezer
Deep Purple
Metallica
The Beatles
Def Leppard
Pink Floyd

Basically, lots of classic rock is what I started out drumming to.:)

I started out drumming to Tom Petty songs. Most of them are more than easy enough, but they are not the kind of songs that will help you with anything past your basic 4/4 rock beat.

As stated above, Metallica is pretty easy.

1. For whom the bell tollz
2. Sad But true
3. Enter Sandman
4. Wherever I may roam

Are among the easiest.

dream theater, tool, cryptopsy, hate eternal, opeth etc... haha

I know when i was first starting I just found songs off any genre with basic rock beats and easy fills that were played in 4/4 time, then I moved onto more technical stuff

I'd just like to say that, while not easy in the least, listening to harder to play bands such as Rush are good for inspiring you on where you should be progressing to. I know for my first year of drumming, i was listening to AC/DC all the time, and one night, listening to the radio, Spirit of Radio came on and i was amazed.

Joe Satriani is awesome to play along to.. The drum beats are simple, you can add to them.

Metallica, Queen, Deep Purple are also great bands to check out to

Right.. can you show me where I said that "I liked these songs"?
Just because I think Green Day is a band for beginners does not make me Emo.
If you havent noticed this thread is called "Beginner songs to drum"
i don't think rush would be that great for a beginner..
