Hey guys. I have just purchased a set of drum mics, samson 7 set due to their low price.
I have just been playing around with some recording, i can get a good sound of of everything except for my 2 rack toms. They seem to have a fairly high pitch to them.
Any help would be great. Cheers, timmy

some stuff to try:
-aim your mics more for the center of the tom
-try coated heads
-downtune the resonant sides a bit

I just tune my heads how I want them to sound and then tweak the mixer.
Just mute all the mics except for one, then while wearing headphones (definitely needs to be isolation headphones) play the drum with one hand and slowly tweak the nobs with the other.
That's how I do it.
It's an unorthodox method, but since I'm the only person in the house with any knowledge of how these things should sound, I can't trust someone else to either play the drums nor adjust the knobs.
