View Full Version : The War in Iraq

In a flurry of thoughts and emotion,
I realized that people in Iraq (a number of people)
Are fighting against the U.S.
And as George Bush stated the U.S. "aren't winning or losing".
The Iraqi people are fighting for the same thing that a large portion of people are forcing upon them.
The Iraqis desire freedom.
Freedom doesn't necessarily come through democracy, especially a democracy that is forced upon people.
Democracy waging a war against people seems kind of ironic doesn't it.
To be truly free means to express onself, not to express oneself with the limitations placed upon them by those nations in power.
How is the war in Iraq taking place with such a clash and hypocritical situation of ideals taking place?

Haha, ya I realized when I was writing it, it was like a ****ed up haiku or some ****...but my thought process is all screwy because i'm just sobering up, as long as one person sees my point, I don't feel so bad.
There is a point in that post somewhere, just gotta search for it..;(

****ed up haiku sort of describes it.
It's definitely a case of trying in say too much and still make it flow.

I'm not even sure what's happening in Iraq constitutes a war anymore.

It's just a lack of stability; there's not really an "army" that they're fighting

What war?

The civil war that's happening alongside the occupation, I think.

Interesting article: http://indymedia.org.uk/en/2006/12/358656.html

Just make sure to ignore the nonfactual stuff, like the speculations about the US attacking Iran, seeing as it's irrelevant.

that's a good call, it just kind of came to me when i was drunk last night
and that was the best i could do at the time, i'll have to gather my thoughts and make it more coherant next time.

I thought the same thing.
But if the world's biggest military and economic superpower has their leader proclaim 'we aren't winning or losing', i think there's something bigger than everybody pictures. taking care of a few rebels with pitchforks or a small militia should not be a daunting multi-billion war effort but to not even be winning? that's ridiculous.

You can't buy people's hearts, and you sure as hell can't win them by invasion.

It's happened, I'm sure.

I know what the government's next move is. They're gonna pull all American's out of Iraq and give every Iraqi citizen a free lollipop. Problem solved.

there once was a man from tikrit
who thought the insurgence was neat
so he strapped some bombs to his chest
and blew up the rest
now all that's left is his feet

Could you hook a brother up with a spare kidney?

Just like, planning for the future, y'know.

Freedom doesn't necessarily come through democracy

Uh...what?

This statement reflects a misunderstanding of either the word "Freedom", the word "Democracy", or both

not really, freedom is the ability to determine your own future by your actions. all democracy gives you is the right to express your beliefs, you're still constrained by the will of the majority.

You can be free without democracy in a literal sense and you cannot be free and still have democracy.
