Okay.
As far as bracing goes, use common sence and triangles.
Basically form triangles withing the bass body

use the general neck and body plans from here. http://www.ehhs.cmich.edu/~dhavlena/db.htm
and get some extra information here. http://www.rockabillybass.com/pictures-122b.htm
i've been trying for about a year now to get good enough parts and tools to be able to do this. i'd definately want to see a step-by-step progress pics thread when you finish.:)

My drummer has wanted me to make/acquire a coffin bass for ages, but completely disregards my lack of woodworking skills/skill on a double bass. Good luck with it, can't wait for pics!

i just realized i have no clue how big to make it
i guess ill just build it too fit me
im 6'3" id like the nut to be at my eyes so thats like 6' 1" roughly
the neck is 18" so that leaves4'7"and i figure a few inches for the end pin ill say five so that leaves me with a 4' 2" coffin but im not sure of the width
ant suggestions/

To fit a child, 6-10 years old I'd say.

Dude, you're never gonna get any kind of good tone out of it. It'd be a better idea to just build an electric upright stick style, and then make a plywood box to fit around it.
There's some advanced stuff going on when it comes to hollow acoustic instruments and bracing techniques.
Do you play upright now? Go measure the scale length (nut to bridge length of the strings), and use that for a basic guide to start with.

LEC, i think he's trying to get that Nekromantix 'tone'. on most of their stuff, Kim Nekroman (bass and lead vocals) has more of an underlying deep bass and 'strings-hitting-the-fingerboard' tone anyway, which is more or less what a homemade coffin bass should give; constructed properly, of course.

im not looking for good acoustic tone
im going to be putting a k&k rockabilly pickup on it
