Finishing a neck with tung oil

Materials: 60 Grit
220 Grit Sandpaper
320 Grit Sandpaper
Old rag or sponge type paint brush
Soft cloth
Tung oil, of course (Can be found at Wal Mart or most hardware stores)

Procedure:

Start by sanding the neck down with the the 60 grit sand paper to get original finish off. Then use 220 and when you've sanded it down with that, use the 320 till it's nice and smooth.

Once you are satisfied, crack open the bottle of tung oil and pour a little onto your old rag or paint brush, then apply a nice even coat on to the wood. Leave it dry for about 5 to 10 minutes, then lightly buff it with a soft cloth. Then leave the neck sit for a while and dry. If you wish, apply another coat of tung oil to the neck, buff it and leave it sit. If the neck is a little tacky, wait till it dries before applying another coat of oil. I found 5 coats got my neck where I wanted it.

It probably would've been wise to put AT LEAST a couple grits between going from 60 - 220...

Adhesive qualities.

All you did was oil it though--so it should be fine.

Looks nice by the way.
