Yeh, so tonight I cracked my only crash. It only a ZXT so its not really an issue, however its my only crash until after Christmas, so please help me by telling me how to solve this problem! It was most probably my technique. I'm knackered and stressed and I found out my granddad has cancer thats why my technique sucked tonight. I just wasn't really playing right and stuff. Anyway, I hope you guys can help!

Unlucky about your grandad.
To drill cymbals, i use a Metal drill bit. Usually the ones with red tips. Just use a hand drill and go at the highest speed in gear one.

I used the slowest speed, starting with a small hole, and building up to a larger one, if needed.
Didnt work though, 'coz I'm a 'tard and didnt check if the hole was right at the very end of the crack.
Sorry to hear about your Grandad mate.

Ahhh, i just went at it with a 4 mil drill bit. Couldn't be bothered with smaller drill bits. If anything, it'll put more stress on the metal. Also wears out your bits and drill motor.
Put a dent in it with a screw to start off with though otherwise the drill will ride all over the cymbal and you'll start getting lots of etches.

If it's til Christmas, I'd just stay without it, it'll really widen up what you can do with a small amount of things, sorry about your granda, I know how you feel, I lost mine when I was 10, hopefully he'll recover

Hey man sorry to hear the bad news.
But be careful when using that crash, It's just I had two crash cymbals crack, and well long story short, they just kept cracking... maybe it was those damn B8's.

SLOW SPEEED SLOWEST SPEED SLOW SLOW SLOW!!!! NOT FAST.
metal = heat conductor. Bit = friction. therfore, drilling cymbal = heating cymbal = melting cymbal = deforming cymbal.
GO SLOW AND SMALL.
I used the slowest speed, starting with a small hole, and building up to a larger one, if needed.
just like that.

Sorry about your grandfather, I went threw the same thing with my grandfather, very hard
Dont worry about the crack it wont spread to much, Christmas is 2 weeks away, I played on a cracked Avedis splash for like 7 months and the crack spread an inch (then Zildjian replaced it lol)

How do you crack a Paiste 302?
those things are like, indestructable. I've stood on mine, and it's gone inside out. I've dropped it on concrete loads of times. I've been thrashing away at it for 3 years and all it's got is a little dirt on it.
