I'm throwing this one down as the most overlooked record of 2006.

Anyone else heard it? It's an instrumental record (apart from one 'Hey!' or something on one of the last tracks), and it's all over the place. The temptation might be to call it post-rock, but it doesn't really fall in line with anything I've heard. It's literally all over the place. There's orchestral parts, calypso parts, surf parts, a track that sounds like a cousin of the James Bond theme, a track that ends up in territory somewhere near IDM, appalachian-style skiffle parts, metal parts....

Yeah. Odd record. But also very good.

Palace of Mirrors is okay, but their other stuff is much better. My favorite is definitely It's Understood. My band covers a song from it.

Plus Hunger Strike is a 19 minute 30 second song that'll blow your mind.

I heard their other stuff sounds more like Mr. Bungle, which puts me way off.

Nope, it's too long and too difficult. We cover the transformation. We have the cover online, but since it's live it's not very good.

I recognize like 4 of the people on the ratings page for it. And they're the ones who've given it 3.5.

I found it fairly easily on Soulseek, though I had to queue for a while.
