I just got 8 albums today from Mr. Green. So good. I love how earthy his guitar sounds and he uses that to play with a wide range of emotions. He's probably the best jazz guitarist I have head outside of Jim Hall. That is all.

I don't know much about him. I'm a Django man myself.
What are some of his best albums? I have Matador, which I've heard is one of his best. I hear Solid is good.
People say he made some really cheesey albums, but he probably did it for the money and I wouldn't blame him if that were true.

He's fusion stuff is very cheesy, but his old soul-jazz music is top-notch.

Top albums:
Green Street
Born To Be Blue
Matador
Idle Moments
Feelin' The Spirit
The Complete Quartets With Sonny Clark
Talkin' About!

I heard Mambo Inn on the radio once, and was instantly intrigued. I'll have to check him out.

I dig Grant Green's music.

But as far as "no one beating him" on guitar, I think Joe Pass could hand anyone their *** .

Truest statement out there. I used to not like Wes until I heard him live. He just tears it up too much when he has the audiences' support. Jim is my favorite guitarist ever.
