but find yourself GASing for.
For me, it would be a Jazz bass. I really don't like Fender at all, but their Jazz basses become increasingly more appealing as time goes on. If I bought one, it would probably be something along the lines of the Marcus Miller signature, seeing as it is just sexy, without question.
Anyway, what is something you dislike, but find yourself wanting, occasionally?

hard alcohol
(or do u just mean about basses? )
I meant basses, only. Hence the "GAS" written within the first line, and this is a bass forum, so that is a no-brainer. :p

a 6-string
i hate 6-strings because they feel unnatural, also very uncomfortable for me...i love 5s, but I also admire the possibility of a high C and a low B....=/
one day I'll have 2 5ers, one standard and the other tenor

Fretless bass with a pickup right next to the bridge.

Mine's a bit like that, it's probably the only thing i slightly dislike about my fretless, the Bridge pickup is a bit unecessarily close to the bridge. Makes playing there a little tiresome on the fingers

I fell in love with a Dean that's like that, but yeah, playing it was a bit awkward, as I always rest my thumb on the pikcup.
I can add a thumbrest, though.

I typically don't like the feel of fender basses(although I like the tone) but I really want a Deluxe jazz fiver tuned EADGC.
I also want a Dean Sledgehammer even though its piss ugly.

I love the way Jazz's look and sound and I kinda want a 5, but I hate the way they feel. Plus, the string spacing seems really close to me.

I want a fretless jazz even though I'm not a fan of fender.

Musicman Bongo. Sounds so good but so ugly.

All stomp boxes and effects. They seem so cool at first but then I realize they just muck up the sound and I stop using them.

Also an upright bass.
Sounds so sexy but man... what a hassle .. so expensive.. and I'd have to spend so much time and money into learning how to play it.

Anal sex?
An upright bass also. They don't really look all that great to me, but they've been attracting me more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more

Well if you want a fender you obviously like them, or are you on a bandwagon and like saying you hate fender because its fashionable.
I used to dislike the pbass tone, I have grown fond of it, all growly and punchy. Be just the thing to replace my tbird.

Fretless 6 string.
im not gonna use a frettless as my main instrument, and absolutly not a 6 string, so a mix between them would probaly work out the best for me :p

I'm definitely GASing for a Fender Jazz bass, but after playing a lot of them, I'm coming to realize that I don't like the fretboard radius on them. I myself prefer a flatter fretboard, so if I could find a Jazz bass with like a 12" fretboard radius or higher, I'd be all over it!

G&L L2000 with their no.8 neck ;) or any G&L with the no. 8 neck.

I dislike the look of them but I'd love a fretless, I've been falling in love with the sound recently, but I don't think I'd use it enough to justify buying one :(

Those are pretty nice, but I was thinking more along the lines of http://www.sadowsky.com/stock/view/m450.html or something similar, but $2,000 is a lot of coin to spend a bass.:upset:

Nah, trust me, I am not on any bandwagon. I have never appreciated Fender. I was always more of a fan of G&L.
It is just that, as of recently, they have grown more appealing in the Jazz bass department. Either this will pass, or I will end up with a Jazz bass. I really just want a Marcus Miller Jazz, though, because those are sexy like none other.
Who knows? :p

I don't like the way most Warwicks look, particularly Thumbs. I also dislike their use of ovankol, cuz i find it to lbe plain ugly. But i love the way they sound.

Have you ever played an ovankol neck? its the best damn neck wood youl find! IMO

Is it new warwicks or old warwicks that have an ovankol neck?
Mine is a 2004.

Just because you like like Fender doesn't mean you like every Fender.

I'm a Fender whore, but I have played some that sound/feel so aweful that they just made me ill.
I don't like Peavey, but I would love to own a Cirrus.

But he was implying he hated fender in general. Jazz basses are like at least a third of the range of basses.
Maybe you could get a lakland or something if you really do hate fender.

I am not saying that I like them; I am saying that they are becoming more appealing to me.
I have also considered purchasing a Lakland. I know a kid that has one, and they are damn nice.

Every P-Bass i have ever played. I have heard some guys get great tone with them, but I haven't found one that could achieve that....:(

A Gibson.
Built horribly, play like crap, and, depending on the model, look ugly.
But they've been known to increase in value. :)

I just want a thunderbird for some reason. I hate the feel, the bass is amazingly unbalanced, but I just want one cause in all reality the tone is amazing and the look is unique.

I don't see how it's possible to dislike something and GAS for it at the same time. Right now I am gassing hardcore for a Valenti P bass. Pao Ferro board w/ flamed maple neck (1.5 inch nut width), transparent brown finish over ash body w/ matching headstock, black pickguard w/ passive tone control, active/passive switch, aguilar OBP-3 pre.
I'll have money by the time he starts accepting orders again. So stoked.

I also want a vintage hofner to smash. I played one, and it was the most poorly constructed, worst playing piece of sh*t I've every seen, and it was priced at 1800. The others I've played haven't been too much better.

The only problem I have with them is their headstock design. It's like a fender, except missing something. The Valenti logo on the headstock looks kinda funky too.
