View Full Version : Musical boredom...recommend me some music

I've exhausted my music library. I'm trying to scope out some good bands I haven't heard yet, but so far, I've found nothing that grabs me very well.
I have a last.fm, but it's recommendations are really unhelpful...popular bands I've already sampled and don't like very much.
A few of my favorites are Bloc Party, Radiohead, The Strokes, Nada Surf, Modest Mouse, Franz Ferdinand, At The Drive-In, etc.
I'm not looking for a critique of my musical tastes, just any recommendations from anyone who knows of or listens to any bands that they think I may enjoy. Thanks.

Hold up,
I know a band that you will LOVE. Guided By Voices are huge influences and are responsible for a lot bands that you like, such as the Strokes, Nada Surf, and Modest Mouse. Get Human Amusement at Hourly Rates, and get ready to listen to your new favorite band.
I think a clip of them on Famil Fued was in the Someday - Strokes music video.

You sir, must not have a soul if you don't like any of these/all of these songs. I pity you.

The Beatles are like tooo good for people to be allowed to listen.
Cause I used to have them on my iPod and I killed the greatness of many of their great songs quickly by playing them over and over.
People should just KNOW how insanly amazing they are and only listen on occasion. Cause then you over-do it if its on all the time.

Kind of like a mix between Bloc Party and The Killers. They are 10x better than The Killers though.

Check out Porcupine Tree if you want a band similar to Radiohead. Also check out Shpongle if you are more into Radiohead's electronic side...
