Got a SX Jazz bass. Upgraded with Dimarzio Ultra Jazz pickups, series parallel push pots (on all three knobs, maybe theres some other switch that i dont know of?). It originally had a badass II bridge but i requested to put back the sx bridge because I didnt have enough money for it. The bass cost me 290 Canadian.
The sound is amazing. Very versatile.
Both of my Sx's

Thanks. The only thing i could complain about the bass is the real ugly headstock.
Very nice, especially like the natural bodied one.
Looks like a 2 piece body with the natural if my eyes do not deceive me, nice catch.
yeah, not really a fan of the headstock either but it is still a nice looking instrument

I gave it a good physical inspection and there are 3 peices of wood. Both join near the left and right side of the bridge. The left peice is well blended in though.

It's been pulled off.

Seeing left handed basses makes me cramp up and start hitting myself in the head with my retard left arm, which loses all feeling when I imagine it being cramped up like my right arm.

SX brands are a great platform for modding. They're cheap and sound really good for the price. There are a few online retailers in the UK that sell SX's.
and yeah the fretboard is truely lovely. I was about to place my order on rondo for one with a tortoise pickguard. I hit up craigslist just to look for some deals. Bam, found this baby.

there are a few places here in aus where you can get sx's. one of my mates has a Cobra Jazz, and it's real nice.

Yeah I got it on craigslist, I had to travel from Brampton to North York to get it. Craigslist has some pretty sweet deals. Right now i'm looking for an amp.

That looks great. I took my bass into the shop today to get the input jack replaced, so I got the chance to look at some really nice ones. I saw this really nice hollow body bass that I really wanted, and some really nice acoustic basses.

Is that a place to put your thumb I see. Just above the E-string.

well, all three of the sx's i've played have pretty much all been crap, yet they seem fairly popular around here. if i was going to do the mods you did, i'd probably go with a mexi fender, but that's just me. the upgrades probably helped, but it seems you still have the stock neck, which seemed to be one of the bigger issues with ALL THREE that i've played.

is below the g-string, in the world of old you rest your fingers on it whil plucking with your thumb

they're on right handed basses to... :p
they're really old style, they stopped putting them on basses a long while ago and now are basically for looks, just like ashtrays.

Yeah, it looks like it. I just put my thumb on one of the pick-ups or the fret board, depending on what sound I want.

I've played mim jazzs, hated them. They sell for 400+ canadian anyways.
The neck is no problem. I had the bass checked out by one of my music teachers whos been playing bass for close to 35 years, he said its allright.
Im thinking of moving the thumbrest between the 2 pickups (like tim commerford)
The bass has a great slap sound, and an even better fingerstyle sound.

I have been hearing alot about these basses lately, and I was wondering how they stack up to Fenders. I like the look of the one the threadstarter bought. So whoever's played one, how would it compare to, let's say, a Geddy Lee Sig on a scale of one to ten, ten being the Geddy Lee and one being a Rogue
Thanks :thumb:

Haven't played a geddy lee sig, but i have played mia and mij fender jazzes.
imo
Feel and look is a 8/10
Sound is a 8.5/10
New pickups and pots worked wonders.
For my sx precision i'd say sound is 4.5 and feel is a 5.5, all stock electronics. The Jazz just feels much more nicer.
