High guys. So I'm a guitarist, and iv got a tanglewood rebel bass. I'm looking into starting a band and joining another as bassist so i need to get a lil bit more serious as equipment goes. I've been playing througha guitar amp, so for practices i would need an amp, with the possibility of playing gigs in the future, although this isnt certain so isnt so important. Basically i need a solid practice amp that won't be me overspending my money. Help me lots plz.

How much can you spend? "Practice Amp" is also a pretty relative term - you will need more that some 15 watt amp to play in a band.

Your probably looking at something like 150 good watts(of course depending on the quality of speaker) to keep up with a drummer(more if he is hard hitting less if he is a light hitter)

How much is that in USD?
You might be able to get one of those Ashdown MAG combos for around that.

Its just an estimate. There are a lot more factors then meets the eye. To play with just another guitarist you don't need much at all and for 250 you can definatly get something good used.

Look at www.talkbass.com in their Classifieds. I got a 300W amp combo with a very good compressor, and all for 300 bucks. At a dollar a watt you can't beat that.
You can also check ebay of course.
Buy used.

I have an Ashdown Mag 300, its got a lot of power, and it was not expensive at all, of course the price has gone up a bit becasue the company is starting to grow. Plus it looks awesome.
