Hey all. I don't think i've posted here before, but i've just recently discovered some new vids on youtube of some local jazz/funk/fusion bands so i just thought i'd share my findings with you, to see what you think. The bassist (Dane Alderson) is pretty awesome, i don't know anything about bass, but this guy has pretty good tone and groove i think. The first vid i put there has a part of a solo by him, but there's some general great playing by him in there anyway.

"VOID" is Troy Roberts - sax, Tom O'Halloran - keys, Dane Alderson - 6 string electric bass and Andrew Fisenden on drums and "Sly" are; Carl Mackey - sax, Graeme Wood - keys, Dane Alderson - 6 String electric bass and Andrew Fisenden on Drums, they are all local musicians from Perth. VOID are even playing at the I.A.J.E conference ina month or so. Some definate great material here.

"VOID" 'Conzuela'; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_maoX1edNTU

'VOID" 'The Break-in'; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQds9KvmLls

"Sly"; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLyx5oTNq_U

7 string.

He's an awesome player and an awesome guy, too. Too bad I hate metal. They're all wicked nice guys, though.

I have known about Porphyria for a while, now.

They aren't too shabby.

He's a hell of a bass player, though.

Quite impressed by the vids. Nice sound all round in my opinion. Funny I've never heard of them, I have a pal that goes to Perth to do some sort of music course - I can't remmeber exactly thisnow - and he keeps telling me of all these bands up there. I may be tempted to go see thme though, depends on a lot of variables tbh but I may just be there.

As for the band Gav put up, not impressed at all by that sort of music, it may well be brilliant but I jsut can suffer it long enough to see. I'm not saying they aren't good jsut that personally I don't like the music.

Ask your mate about VOID, he'll know them without question, if he's doing a uni course for music.

Eek. Some drummers really need to lay off the speed.

It usually happens in this sort of threads, it's amazing how it happens.

It's insane. I ask what people think of a couple fusion bands, then all of a sudden we're talking about a metal band? Wtf?
