Hey all. I've just recently discovered some new vids on youtube of some local jazz/funk/fusion bands so i just thought i'd share my findings with you, to see what you think.

"VOID" is Troy Roberts - sax, Tom O'Halloran - keys, Dane Alderson - 6 string electric bass and Andrew Fisenden on drums and "Sly" are; Carl Mackey - sax, Graeme Wood - keys, Dane Alderson - 6 String electric bass and Andrew Fisenden on Drums, they are all local musicians from Perth. VOID are even playing at the I.A.J.E conference ina month or so. Some definate great material here.

This is my guitar teacher's band. They are funk pop rock/jazz/fusion...

They have some videos up of them (A Big Disappointment is my favorite) playing in Philly at the Trocadero. Their bassist is absolutely ridiculous (he studied and lived with Victor Wooten)...

My bad, I thought you made a thread to post good local jazz bands in...

I just watched the vids, and that Void band is really awesome. I love the the the stuff that the keyboardist was doing, he created a really awesome mood. The band was incredibly tight and just all around good...

Haha its cool man, the band you posted was pretty tight too. Yeah void are a great band, wish i lived closer to where they play regularly... :(

Hey, these guys are great, I watched the video on their front page; every one of them are really great musicians in their own right. Awesome. Tell your teacher kids in Canada think his band is cool.

That third video, the one by "Sly", is a song called Jazz Crimes by Josh Redman... if you look up Brian Blade on drummerworld.com, you'll see an awesome version of it.

Has anyone in here heard of "Volto!" ? If not, check out their myspace. they're an amazing fusion band in california.
