or Allen wrench? Anyway, what size allan wrench would I need to just adjust the action on my bass? I have a Schecter Stilleto Elite 4 and I'm looking at some on ebay but I need to verify the size I'll need.

Thanks!

Can't you just buy a set from your local hardware store?

Pluperfect_Arson

Umm...just go to your hardware store and buy a set of them. They are rather cheap, and buying an Allen wrench off of eBay is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of.

What about this thread?

Seriously, Allen keys are cheap.

Hell, just go to a local guitar store, and ask if they have any Allen keys lying around.

We have thousands at my store.

Yeah, a lot of stores will give them away and if they are stingy then a set of them is very cheap.

go to a hardware store and get a full set of allen wrenches. You can adjust your truss rod, action, and fix knobs all with the same set :thumb:

We are helping you!

We just laughed at the fact that you were looking at Allen wrenches on eBay when you can just go to your local hardware store.

You can buy a set with ten wrenches for 3$ or something, and those ten wrenches will be all you ever need bass-wise.

Yeah, you can get them way cheap. I thought it was common practise to ship basses with an allen key that fits their components. That's what I got with my Ibanez.

All answers that make sense to this topic. All answers that honestly are more helpful than telling you to go buy a single allen wrench. So many parts on an instrument require an allen wrench that to not buy a set of them is just a little ridiculous.

Make sure you buy them in metric and not standard.

I see now! So, I can play Classical Thump and I'm almost positive none of you guys can, so I should laugh at you should an "obvious" question on thumb technique come up? Nice.

Threadstarter - woah. it's probably not best to say that. i don't believe you can play classical thump, and i won't believe you until i hear a recording; but aside from that, it doesn't matter. Either way you shouldn't be so easily offended. People get angry when you say stuff like that...

My bass takes a 1mm allen key. Cost 35p, which is about 17¢.

Most bridges have a uniform size that they use, and although I don't know which size off-hand, I know that you'll be able to find it at any guitar store. You could probably buy a little general repair kit for $6 or $7, or check out a hardware store and buy the size you need for a quarter.

No point in fighting, it was all just jesting! :]

Seriously, I didn't take any offense and I hope no one else did; it's the internet, at the MOST I was SLIGHTLY ticked that I had to read a few posts to answer my question. Out of a possible 100 points of annoyance, with 100 being the most and 1 being the least, it was like a 7. Maybe 8. :]

^Not bad. Could use some cleaning up, but props for a fantastic effort. I have a hard time even remembering the whole thing.

And I don't remember "Blackbird" being in the song.

But it was a nice addition.

I didn't take any offense to this whatsoever. I actually laughed at the ridiculousness of the post. You are more than welcome to laugh at "obvious" things when people question. That is what I do. :p

I am assuming that the link you posted was that of "Classical Thump" being played out. I didn't listen to it because the computer I am using doesn't have speakers, but meh.

Nice job, how come none of the other songs are near the skill level of that one?

The track "jazzzzzz" has the most advanced technique in classical thump in the middle section, but otherwise I don't find it very practical to integrate most of the techniques Wooten uses in that song into my own music. I use it as a thumb exercise and learning the song has VASTLY improved my ability to see shapes on the fretboard.

Oh and again, just to clear the air one more time, I hope no one was offended by my replies, take some stabs and give some stabs and we'll all bleed a little and all laugh a little. :]

...Except the guy who accidently gets stabbed in the balls, he'll only laugh when he sees it on video later in the hospital.:upset:

I thought you were a nice guy

But here your elitism is revealed I guess.

My question is: how can someone possibly be able to play Classical Thump in it's entirety and not know how to adjust the action on their bass? Something just doesnt add up there.

By the way, your Classical Thump is really rushed and it's sloppy because of that. If you play it at regular tempo it should have less mistakes.

Dude, chill, read what I posted above.

And I don't know how to adjust the action? Well, I don't really see how asking about getting a wrench has anything to do with knowing how to adjust the action, EXCEPT to suggest that I in fact DO know how to change the action, but am I lacking the proper tool. Maybe if I had asked what type of chainsaw I would use to adjust the action would my ability seem dubious. What is correct is to say that I do not know the specific size of the wrench I need, hence my quesiton. I thought the title of the thread was clear, "What size ALLAN WRENCH?" Maybe it's me. Maybe it's "Allen wrench" not "Allan wrench."

I prefer to just order things online or walk into a store and ask or look for a very specific item. Again just me.

As for my practicing, thanks, I'm aware I need to practice it, but thanks for looking out for me right there. But I'm a firm believer that everyone needs to practice everything more, I just posted part of the journey. Again, read what I wrote above, no need for hate. Not saying YOU'RE hating. Just saying. Just love.

Fair enough

I guess I could have been more specific

I would assume that someone who could play at the skill level to play Classical Thump would OWN an allen key.

I'm not attacking you I just found it strange.

Uhh good job overall. I suggest you learn each part individually a lot more solid. I can't play that much of the song but the parts I can play I can play better, and I'm sure a lot of people on the forum can play a lot of it better then you did in that recording (strictly for the record).

Haha, sorry this just made me laugh.

" I suggest you learn each part individually a lot more solid. "

Well, I of course learned the parts individually, playing the song all the way through is MUCH, MUCH, MUCH harder than playing the individual parts, in the process of learning the song I didn't move on to the next part until I had the previous section down perfectly, with Classical Thump, you CAN'T move on to the next part until you have the technique down from the previous section.

" I can't play that much of the song but the parts I can play I can play better, and I'm sure a lot of people on the forum can play a lot of it better then you did in that recording (strictly for the record)."

Wow, so now absolutely vapid conjecture goes on the record? Like I said, playing the individual parts is EASY, I slipped up here and there on that recording, usually I'll miss one or two spots when I play it through and that was the first and only recording I did, it wasn't something I would put on CD, I didn't bring it into this thread to be broken down into what I need to work on and don't need to work on. As for the last part, where, you're "sure a lot of people on the forum can play a lot of it better" (as well as yourself) that's just spectacular, good job by the majority of the forum. :] Do you know anything about ALLAN WRENCHES?

I barely ever make an appearance in the bass forum anymore because of all the people with attitude problems, it just isn't really a place worth reading or posting in that often anymore.

Well yeah, so my penis is about 4.5 inches flacid, yes, but you have to take into consideration the temperature and circulation!

If you'd ever seen me fully erect you would know that it's almost a full 7 inches, but you've only ever seen that one pic that was taken just after I got out of the swimming pool at the Y.

It was the one and only picture taken, and it's nothing I'd publish in a porn magazine.

Also consider I havn't shaved around my penis base recently, so naturally the pubic hair in that region will obscure some of the shaft.

As for forum members with 7" penises - well good for them! I am happy for the majority of the forumers here.

But yeah back to the allan wrenches.
