Coltrane Quartet circa 65 Coltrane ,Tyner, Davis , Elvin ..........WOW!

They are literally smoking in this video!

Compared to the album version with art taylor on drums this is a complete turnaround from the simple and soft brush backed ballad on the album.

This is what live jazz is all about! The tune starts of nice and slow like the original and it gets so intense towards the middle. Such beautiful melodies! I can even hear one of them scatting the melody of what they are playing , (probably davis)

Elvin is a vodoo master! no other drummer could play so crazily and not step on the toes of the rest of the band whilst sounding so good , no one could play like Elvin , no one!

At 3:53 the intensity really hits you , its like my head is going to explode

This is jazz holy grail ! you gotta see this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you like that, you should see the version of My Favorite Things from the same show, you'll probably crap your pants. It's better IMO.

the bassist is Jimmy Garrison
