View Full Version : What is your favorite subatomic particle?

The Stig

I am just curious. What is you favorite subatomic particle? Simple question, I know.

I have to say I'm a fan of Neutrinos and Strange quarks.

These posts reek of a lack of talk about quantum mechanics.

We will also post about the quantum vacuum.

I think it would be cool to be able to get this free energy, but the risks are high. Any comments?

i don't know, i just recently kind of understood (still kind of) string theory.

very interesting stuff it is.

my feelings exactly. i can remember watching NOVA on pbs when I was in school and just trying to comprehend the stuff. NOVA's not very much of anything, but still - it presented the ideas, and I used to love just laying in the grass at nite, looking at the stars and trying to make sense of it all.

Of course, I never did, but it was fun trying.

I was trying to do some stargazing the other night, but there is too much light pollution in Athens. Something interesting I read:

"All of this [life, the universe, and, well, everything] is what happens when hydrogen atoms evolve." I forget who said it, but it's an interesting perspective.

I live in an apt complex, so stargazing now is out of the question. I plan on moving away, in the country somewhere, renting a trailer or something when i finish my trailer. So I can start gazing, even buy a telescope.

That's an interesting quote, I will surely 'ponder' it much over the next few days.

I'm actually reading a book on Black holes at the moment :thumb:

It's not like a Stephen Hawking intense book, it's just a sort of introduction, it's pretty good (Although it was written in the 70's so it's fairly out of date, although much of it still applies).

The Stig
12-03-2006, 11:35 PM
Those are enzymes, Caitria, not subatomic particles.

I think Chu actually knows more than all of the rest of us about this stuff.

The Stig
12-04-2006, 12:41 AM
Oh..

Two atoms walk into a bar. One says to the other, "I think I lost an electron back there." Sacond one says, "How do you know?" First one says, "I'm positive."

Oh what fun.

I spent Saturday cleaning up a highway with my honors society and then got drunk and fell asleep early. Had band practice today and otherwise did nothing. Band practice was the only real nice part of the weekend heh. I added some Post-Metal type stuff to some of our songs for kicks (we're like Pop Punk).

ps as if anyone actually cares about subatomic particles :-* paul

Buh, the Saturday would have been better if it didn't start at 8 am and it wasn't 40- degrees outside :( But yeah, it hadn't been done in years so we got like 30 bags of trash over a 1 mile stretch. :-\ looks lots better though.

good thing school's all but done so i don't need to be productive.

I haven't, but I am pretty evironmentally conscientious anyways. My mom raised us to be. She's huge into organics and all that sort of stuff.

Oh to be energy/environmentally aware. I need to work on my priorities.
Colorado? I hear the skiing is most excellent.

And you could make some pretty spectacular Global Warming pick up lines.
Examples:
"I'll melt your ice-shelf baby."
"I can make you as hot as an atmosphere choked by greenhouse gasses."
Or, the timeless classic.
"I want to see your glaciers disappear."

Pfft, as soon as you start paying your energy bills you'll learn to be energy aware lol.

The skiing is indeed excellent. That will be a lot of my break :D

You could, but my charm is so refined I don't need pickup lines to get girls (HAHA RIGHT?) :upset:
