i think an under rated one is definitely Sting, but in his days in The Police. I'm not the biggest fan of his solo work, though hes put out some pretty good stuff. but god i wish i had that kind of range and clarity. hearing that guy sing in stuff like Walking on the Moon, O My God, and So Lonely really strikes a chord with me, and theres the live version of Message in a Bottle with just him and Andy Summers on guitar.... he's just got a really good voice.

another guy who was great in his earlier days is Bono. i think the best U2 cd is War, and i think that was his voice's prime. What a g.

Zach Smith from Pinback's got my favorite voice, and i can't really say why, but he just sounds like he understands. i dont know, that doesnt really make sense, but its all i can think of to describe it. it sounds like he's got autotune on all the time, and then i saw him live... as it turns out, he's just got some damn good cords.

and then tied with zach for my favorite voice in rock... comes a guy who gained this personal title when i saw his band play their first show in years at HFStival a couple years ago. Robert Smith of the Cure... that guy just sounds ****in godly.

alright screw zach smith.. Robert Smith has got the best voice in rock. according to nick.

Eliminator is very minimalistic. That's why we love him.

I'd have to say Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips. He doesn't have the most powerful pipes ever, but his voice does have a very powerful sense at the same time.

In closing, Wayne Coyne's voice = teh secks.

fair enough, why do you think so? have you heard a lot of The Police?
remember, i didnt say i liked his solo stuff. so if youre basing your opinion on his solo work then i agree but i think he sounded great in the late 70s early 80s

I have Regatta De Blanc, Outlandos D'amour, Ghost In The Machine, and Live In Atlanta. He has a small range, no power, no versatility, and his tone is awful.

But that last part is my opinion. It's all subjective, I suppose.

Joe Strummer would be my favourite. I think the combination of him and Mick Jones was perfect. Strummer always sounded (and probably was) drunk and had slurred words, while Mick sounded like he had just swallowed a large tank of helium.

Other notables are Ian Curtis, David Bowie, Jello Biafra, Bob Weir, Isaac Brock, countless others.

I have always been a fan of Thom Yorke's vocals. I know some people don't like how high-pitched he can be, but the thread is favorites, not best. I'm also a fan of Damon Albarn. Not the biggest range, but there's something about iot that I like.

I've never gotten what the big hype on Thom Yorke is about.

I don't find his incomprehensible, high-pitched whining noises to be very appealing.

Must be something there though, because that man has one huge fanbase.

He's got a really good sense of melody; his vocals tend to carry a lot of Radiohead's songs, and his voice is just kinda hypnotizing.
